Re: Laser weapons are back?
The jack-in-a-box accuracy is retarded.
I had enemies that would crouch down, then pop up 3 seconds later with superleetbbq accuracy and headshot me off and I was prone the whole time.
There needs to be some penalty for changing stances and turning around, right now the only thing that affects accuracy a lot is WASD movement, kinda making PR camper friendly, because as long as you don't move and just turn around with your mouse and go prone, crouch or stand up, you can still shoot pretty much accurately.

i found weird in some occasions i would aim at a guy (3secs) and then he looks at me, crouches and shoots me in less than 1 sec... head shot. how come?? he was like 100m away..

Deviation within the cone of fire is pseudo-random. Even if you have a huge deviation penalty (due to moving, shooting etc) it doesn't mean you can't hit what your aiming at. It just means you have less chance compared to someone who has smaller deviation penalty.goguapsy wrote:i found weird in some occasions i would aim at a guy (3secs) and then he looks at me, crouches and shoots me in less than 1 sec... head shot. how come?? he was like 100m away..

ive noticed this one shot stuff to...its pissing me offFarks wrote:I have noticed almost every time I've been playing PR lately that myself and others get shot and killed by one single bullet. This wasn't the case a few months back. For example, me and another player were supressing an enemy at least 100 meters away, and he just pops up and shoots both of us with our bullets landing all around him. And that's just one example. Have players gotten used to the weapon handling and learned to "exploit" it?

Thanks for recording me trying to make sense when I didn't sleep for 43 hours...503 wrote:CA ballistics and deviation is perfect. More than half the time, in long range firefights, I find myself looking for cover instead of going out into an open field and shooting from there.
Here's a video of infantry firefights in CA. It's in the second half of the video starting somewhere around 1:40. Mostly long range firefights.

Agreed. Very camper friendly. Sometimes it comes down to who has been still the longest which is kinda pathetic. Even if you flank the enemy, all they have to do is swivel with their mouse and hose you down. All you can do is spray and pray since you were moving (deviation=bare minimum) and trying to be tactical and flank.Outlawz wrote:kinda making PR camper friendly, because as long as you don't move and just turn around with your mouse and go prone, crouch or stand up, you can still shoot pretty much accurately.
Headhots would put the fear back into people.ChizNizzle wrote:Headshot=kill, is a part-solution for this fear/suppresion problem.
I am interested in what kind of improvements PR Combined Arms can bring in...

a few days before my PR got messed up I found out you can put your M16/M4 bursts into neat little boxes if you push down when your firing. I could get 20 kills a round on a map like Fallujah like that, and some shots were from 400+ yards

Your right in that Mongol, i mean Watching PR over the years has taught has proved this theory and found it to be correct.'[R-MOD wrote:Mongolian_dude;1051372']I cant help but feel small arms are a bit too accurate in PR, and this is one of the most obvious side effects. Effortless headshots, ignoring suppression, no sense of futility in the tactical disadvantage.
I think a good remedy would come from Mildly decreasing accuracy of small arms in PR, yet a reasonable decrease in the general level of deviation.
Perhaps 'on the range', soldiers would find that they can achieve very tight groupings, yet in the combat environment, aspects such as the fear of dying cause effects such as high adrenaline-blood ratio that would cause ones aim to be impaired and inferior to what the rifles are fully capable of.
However, individuals in PR have very little fear of getting shot, as there is a good chance they will hit their target despite their situation, due to high levels of accuracy. This means they are not worried about being at a disadvantage, such as having inferior fire power.
I would speculate that the majority of assault-rifle kills IRL are not simply individuals being truly uber shots, but from the large number of barrels aiming at a single target increases the chance of the group hitting their target.
So, in theory, decreasing overall accuracy would give the incentive for players to operate and engage targets in groups, AKA Teamwork.
...mongol...
And also in combat you can't fire a accurately as you do on the range,
And a lot of people are hostile to decreasing accuracy of the weapons to increase more team play and squad work simply because they feel it will result in less kills for them. the though stick goes both way, sure it harder for you to get kills but then it is also harder for people to got and snipe you in the head with one shot,
for me it a question of what do i hate more, people pulling of Bull shots and killing me with a single shot, or having to work a lot harder to get kills and having a few get away,
Though i also believe a balance needs to be struck that makes every one happy. right now we are very close to that balance.

it does nothing with fear, new medic system is way more better in terms of "fear"DesmoLocke wrote: Headhots would put the fear back into people.
the only things it brings back 1.BOOM! HEADSHOT in chat 2. its still better to stare at enemy for 5 seconds and then insta kill it

Re: Laser weapons are back?
The problem with low deviation is that it encourages charging tactics; the best way to win is to get close to the enemy and fire at point blank. At least that was how I succesfully played during 0.8.

Think of it as "who spent the longest time aiming"Sometimes it comes down to who has been still the longest which is kinda pathetic.

That doesn't always work, on map i was staring down into a window of a house below me, zoomed in for 10 seconds. This guy crawls up to the window then pops up and nails me with out waiting at all. In the end my shoot killed him too. But I waited and he didn't and I was still dead.

So you are complaining that 2 of you got shot, in the open, engaging an enemy behind cover ? That about right ? I wonder what the KD ratio on the American sector was on D-DAY, probably 1-50 or something like that.

If the enemy is waiting behind cover, suppress him and find an angle of attack that gives you enough time to aim. If that's not possible, try to use cover to escape.
Don't run out into the open, even for cover!
You are not the hero of an action movie. Bullets will not dodge you, nor will you dodge bullets. Unlike the movies, even if you were the 'main character', PR does not need to keep you alive to spawn sequels.
Be the one behind that cover, shoot the players who ignore this advice and let them, not you, come to the forum to complain.

if you were aiming more than enemy it doesn't mean you should kill him, it means you have more chances to hit him, so in 90 cases of 100 you will kill him, not he, its all about probability and luckgaurd502 wrote:That doesn't always work, on map i was staring down into a window of a house below me, zoomed in for 10 seconds. IMO, the current deviation model is the most playable version, I really enjoy it and it works almost fine for me.
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR

and to the people complaining about 'campers' having an advantage...that's what a tactical shooter is all about! if you have a good position and are waiting for the enemy to enter your cone of fire, you *should* have a huge advantage. this mod is not 'camper friendly', it's very unfriendly to run and gunners. in fact, i am playing this mod because it's so unfriendly to run and gunners (and heavy on teamwork, of course). i use tactics, strategy and positioning to give my squad the best chance possible, and i want my game to reward that behavior (unlike games like vBF2, for instance).
i dont understand how people can complain about 'camping' in a tactical shooter. if there's no reason for my squad to move from our current position, why should we? we should get into the best position possible and deny areas to the enemy.
and for the record, tactical play shouldnt be called 'camping'...it should be called 'defending' or 'securing'.

please don't tell me what i should be feeling while i play and ruin my accuracy because of it. all i want is the weapons behaving as realistically as possible, with the aiming and sight in time that corresponds the factions trained soldier.
i don't want my rounds to miss because he soldier has seen a made up scenario and gotten scared/stressed. i get stressed if the scenario of the game affects me in such way. when getting shot in the face doesn't instantly kill and you eat field dressings with your behind, i don't want made up, behind the scenes scenarios leading me off target.
i'd want 0.7 laser accuracy (with current 4 sec deviation zeroing), but also eliminating the maintained accuracy when going from crouch to crouch to standing.

Re: Laser weapons are back?
I think the current deviation is a bit... OTT... im sure a fully trained soldier would have no trouble holding a gun for a few rounds on full auto perfectly straight... just coz most of the people behind the keyboards couldnt hurt a fly (my self included) doesnt mean that the ingame charecters have to be the same
It's been a while, old friends
