Suppression fire is not the sole purpose of an LMG. It's also designed so you can easily mow down masses of enemies.

Re: Recoil on deplyed LMGs...
I agree that SAWs might be slightly too accurate, but then again a PKM can be accurate up to 1000+meters. Its only natural that SAWs have similar accuracy to an AR, as they fire the same round and are structure in very similar ways.
Ofcourse, SAWs generally have far superior rate of fire to ARs, which would mean sheer volume of fire compensates for the level of deviation that the weapons share, giving the appearance that the SAW is more accurate than an AR.
Simply, accuracy is less of an issue when putting vast amounts of fire down range.
Q: Does anyone else feel that the deployed SAWs (un-zoomed) have way too much recoil?
I think it would be nice to have the weapon deployed and choose to simply use the tracers, as opposed to looking down the sights. After all, the weapon is deployed the same when zoomed in, so you'd expect accuracy and deviation to act the same.

I think the M249 is fine. If anything the optics will make it more on par with were is should be.
I have never fired a SAW, It appears that it can be shoulder fired with reasonable control from the videos I've seen of it. I think the main reason the non deployed recoil is so fierce is because we don't want rambo kids using the saw like a glorified tommy gun.
I'd like the see recoil reduced for shoulder fired, right now it's a little absurd. It's not like the SAW fired 7.62 or something.

Re: Recoil on deplyed LMGs...
Why do people post threads, then everyone disregards any poster who has done this stuff in real life and continues to post silly assumptions.
LMGs are highly accurate weapons and can be used in both point targets and area targets. That is why we are taught multiple ranges for a MG so that we can effectively use it for suppression or killing one man.
Point targets: 800m (accurate hits on one man)
Area targets: 1000m (essentially raining lead on multiple guys)
These ranges far exceed the ranges you see in PR. When have you ever tried to hit one man accurately at 800m with a SAW in PR?
As far as recoil is concerned, when deployed or "supported" machine guns push back, they do not climb. Even then the MMG (M240B) has a buffer spring in the buttstock so there is minimal push back. A trained Marine/Soldier is taught how to counter this "push-back" on top of it all by digging your toes into the ground and applying what we call "shoulder pressure".

Recoil on it is fine the way it is.

I think the deployed non scope mode is too clumsy. It should be a little less deviation, since I don't think that shooting without looking down the sights is soo eradic.

You are right, it is not that erradic IRL. Infact, you typically only look down your iron sights on the first burst to get on target, after that you look over the sights and watch your tracers/spotter guides you on target.Airs0ft_S0ldier11 wrote:I think the deployed non scope mode is too clumsy. Just because you are not looking down the sights does not reduce the accuracy of the weapon, especially with MGs because they have tracers.
I remember I tried this in PR for the first time and I saw my rounds hit the dirt, I was like "what the hell, it does not do this IRL."

Not to mention the scope is WAY to crowded so i just make the dont look through the hole i just like up the rear iron sight with the long metal bit with hole and fire
The only recoil will be when the LMG shifts ( bi pods move because of recoil or not a flat surface ect) which is actually less deviation than the in game deviation which is annoying when u see rounds hit the ground in front of u

But you try that against any other faction and you will get served usally on a silver plater.SkaterCrush wrote:But still what OP is suggesting is increasing recoil or settle time. I support this, me and a buddy who spotted for me took out about 50 insurgents in a round. It'll be even easier with scoped LMGs and deployable in any stance
Im glad the scopes are coming out the LMG's really need them, on topic, a slight reduction in grouping might be in order to give it a bit more effect, we don't want them being like laser guns, we want some thing that going to be respected an make a very impressionable mark on the battle field but not be some thing to over powered.
but that just my two cents

Judging from that video, the current sound for the SAW is wrong. The rate of fire seemed lower in that video than it is in PR, too.

AAS is too vanilla for me, I almost always play insurgency bluFOR side, and if i do play AAS its for Seven Gates or for Muttrah. I'm not sure what to say about this, I do support increasing shoulder fired accuracy, but I really do think they need to increase deviation/shot spread of all the SAW'sRHYS4190 wrote:But you try that against any other faction and you will get served usally on a silver plater.

guys wait and see the auto riflemen in the patch, they have received the revamping they have needed for a long time!
now the weapons inflict fear rather than 'o look theres a saw gunner over there!' *stands up put one round to the gunners face ignoring the bullets flying past his head*

Thats good, I've often found the SAW to be less ***-kicking than the middle eastern RPK74 and PKM, both in PR and in vanilla
