Re: My first time with PR
My one complaint about points is that just being firebase building whores helps a bit too much in my opinion.
Be a good medic, squad leader or transporter and you don't need kills to roll in the points. The idea is that it measures how useful you've been to the team, not just your skills as a kill merchant.

Did u wait for 6000 seconds to see what would happen?Dr2B Rudd wrote:Rifleman
The long spawntimer prevents you accidentally spawning with the officer kit. If you spawn with teh officer kit when you are not elibible for it you will be killed by the game as soon as you spawn.

Remember the days when the 6000seconds wasn't used? You accidentally died all the time from selecting Officer.Kruder wrote:Did u wait for 6000 seconds to see what would happen?
Thats the whole point of the 6000seconds.

Re: My first time with PR
The very first time I played Project Reality was a an odd experience. I did not have a clue and I was an BF2-admin at former gaming.datorbutiken.com in Sweden, which makes it even more awkward. (We played there)
Anyway, I greased almost all my team mates with a single headshot from a rather good distance (damn, there was no tags above then as in "vanilla"). Here I stated, "A friendly kill is also a kill".
I complained when the flag did not move a bit, trying to capture it. Alone...
And all foe's vehicles that I could not pinch. (Where was the key?)
I was so sceptical and my words "This mod won't survive" I deeply regret!
Today I cannot even think of playing another mod than PR.
Well, there is a first time for everything! Ain't it!
Cheers,
Magrioteli

Hey all - glad to see this mod doing well. I used to play back in the 0.5 days, but that's obiously been a while. I'm getting ready to download the latest and am looking forward to all of the progress that's been made. After that long away, it's going to seem like playing for the first time again...
See you all out there!

Yes.Juanxz wrote:What is a fire base? Is it another word for forward outpost?
Firebase.
Forward Operations Base (FOB)
Forward Outpost.
Each term is acceptable as far as I know.

Re: My first time with PR
If a squad stays together (mostly within nametag range) and accomplishes even just a few things then its members will all have excellent scores at the end of a round. One thousand points is relatively easy if the squad is working together. There are bonuses for being in the proximity of squad members while they are doing their job, AFAIK. PR has a great scoring system.Oldirti wrote:I don't even know how i make points, but by the end of the match i usually have at least a thousand.

I remember my first round of PR. Was sat as a gunner in a APC and was amazed of easy it was to kill droves of enemy soldiers on Al Hahjewlrjhbghhgnf (DAM map). I even wasted one innocent life and got a reprimand from my SL (it´s hard to tell who is who in the desert.

Re: My first time with PR
OP, if you were in a squad, you could have just asked your squad mates. A simple "Don't select the officer kit" would have cleared the whole situation. I hope you didn't wait the whole 6000 seconds. It's supposed to be 60.

That would be Jabal Al Burj, one of the best maps around! And it must have been tough playing as a gunner for the APC with no experience! I went for vehicles only after a week of playing.DDT wrote:I remember my first round of PR.
