Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
If this is a poll to determine how stupid the people that frequent these forums are then I can understand this poll, otherwise I don't understand.
Q. How often should you be able to hit a moving target?
A. How good are you?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.

I voted 50%. A guy running flat out perpendicular to your location at 100m is going to be difficult to hit, but not impossible. 50% chance. You shoot twice and you have a very good chance of hitting him.

Re: [Poll] How easily should you hit a moving target?
Not enough information. The speed of the soldier and direction of movement in relation to yourself is not mentioned. I forgot who said it, but one sniper tutorial said you need only lead a target for movement across your screen, not their movement directly towards or away from you (at distances of no drop).

Voted 100%, assuming they were running non-sprint full to the side with 0 ping.
If they are sprinting full to one side then I'd say 75%.
Ping is going to be enough of a factor to make sure that it doesn't actually happen 100% of the time.
Although I'd settle with 75% seeing as is its like 10% at best right now.

... You do know this is what you think it would be like in real life, right? Don't mean to be rude if you do, its just that ping shouldn't be a factor in that caseWheelman56 wrote:Voted 100%, assuming they were running non-sprint full to the side with 0 ping.

I voted 50 %, assuming that you're given the chance to line up your shot each time, but that the target is sprinting across. Leading the target should be hard enough when running at full speed to get only 50 % of the shots.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
Considering the heavy equipment all the soldiers in PR are wearing (except for insurgents) I think it should be a kill like 85+% of the time a soldier tries to cross 100m in fron of you. They cant run very fast, and with 1-4 shots it should be a sure kill. Especially if u have 0 ping. But since no one have 0 ping I say it should be a bit easier so you can actually hit ingame online 85%+. In real life the only reason for missing like that if your staioned, would be if the shooter not is on his guard.

Considering all the equipment, what happens if I hit the mine on the back of the guy carrying it with a dragunov sniper round

Due to the fact I play as a medic 99% of the time, it comes down to the type of ironsights I'm using. If they are the L85's then its about 95% M16 about the same. When we get into the AK, G3, and PLA ironsights I'm about in the 50% area. Just personal preference for me.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
I said never because I suck at shooting. ;D
I only ever hit anything with my shotgun by accident/panicking. Maaybe I'll hit a moving target with a heavy machine gun that's fully loaded.
Gimme a recurve bow and a horse.. Then I'll take out a moving target.
EDIT: There's a reason I enjoy flying helicopters and playing nurse!

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
get hitfixer 2.0 and you'll see that you can lead targets properly (as long as you take the bullet travel time into consideration).

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
25%-50%
Why? Because, you aren't always going to land perfect shots at a target, even when he is sprinting.

using any of the rifleman kits, assuming you lead the proper distance of the target he shouldn't be that hard to hit. this one time on Fallujah west, a guy was running across the road maybe 120 meters away, and i KOed him in 1 shot, on average though i'd say it's 50/50 at that range, that one was just a lucky shot. ussualy on a moving (sprinting) target at that range i'd say i get about 4-5 shots out of 10.

I don't think we can actually use probability for this issue; it is a matter of skills, mainly.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
Kiiind of depends how far away he is? Obstacles, stance, weapon etc are important, but given the BF2 engine you can't rule out the problem of hitreg. I'm not actually sure how it is in PR, but in BF2 you actually have to aim behind the target, as the hitbox lags about 45ms behind the model.

depends if you are in zoom mode or not. Cant remember which way round it is , but one you have to aim behind the other you aim in front.but in BF2 you actually have to aim behind the target, as the hitbox lags about 45ms behind the model.
Personally I just spray and pray.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
Well i say if he is 100 meters away it should be 25 percent ,seeming that 100 meters in game is more like 300 actual plus the movement of the target and other battle field conditions 25% is pretty realistic, 50% is just to high.
and it is a matter of skill, you can kill people running at 100 meters it really all comes down to timing and skill, it should not be easy,
My two cents is the devs have got divation pretty much right,

I think many of you are being cocky. I know I don't get hit most of the time when I am moving perpendicular to the shooter. Furthermore, you often don't know if you actually are hitting your target if they don't die.

100% at close range (<50m)
Otherwise you need to know bullet speed and distance to target

I'm sure they are talking about IRL, not ingame? Or rather how would like to see it ingame in reflection to IRL, not how it is ingame atm.Dubbs_Malone wrote:I think many of you are being cocky. Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
depends
1. If the enemy is sprinting or not
2. How many squad mates u have beside u
3. Does the enemy have cover
4. Do you have a good position to shoot
5. Does enemy have other enemys near by
6. Range
I'd say about 50-75% of the time
