The PR-niversal fact that 2 is better than 1

Post by TF6049 »

Two people are better than one. That's one of the key things I've found in PR.

EX...
-a .50er in the tank saved it multiple times, and kept it alive the whole round on Basrah
-2 planes/helis working together can support each other, and one can cover the other
-having a ladder/flank guard (props to Fuzzy=US= for this) can mean that you can snipe the enemy with impunity (and being it was Basrah, he racked up kills because they REALLY wanted my kit :mrgreen :)

Thoughts/experiences?

oooh yes. Totaly agree, but it kinda goes without saying in a team oriented game :) But! You'd have to make sure that the .50 in your example is looking back for it to help.

I had a few times where I had a squad of infantry, and we got pwned from the back 'cause everyone was looking at the casualty being healed, or trying to make that snipe shot! So numbers arent everything.

its a point that alot of players need to take on board

many a time this happens:

*contact*

"where you going SM 2?"

"Gonna flank the enemy...."

(this is good, an understanding of tactics...but...)

"gonna flank them alone?"

"erm"

"take SM 3 with you, if you are by yourself you are doing something wrong"

I think to an extent we are trained in solo tactics by games like COD, usually 'you' are given the objective to flank etc, and the AI just moves around you, this has slipped in to Multiplayer gaming today.

Many players would do a lot better if they just kept their eyes open. That's the main attack helo v. attack helo fault of the losing pilot.

I agree Rudd, taking 2 people generally can be a good thing, however, many a time, if you request to go flanking alone, I will let it go, cos 1 man can't be seen as easily as two, and can at least kill a couple of people while the squad moves up.

Too be honest, this single motto alone will make or break a squad in PR. There is a reason military personnel are trained to always have a "battle buddy" even when you go on libo (time off out in town).

You should never do things alone, unless you have no choice.

Even snipers, who are perceived as loners, at least operate with a spotter. The spotter is the higher ranker to boot, the sniper is like the artillery that puts the bullet on target.
