If fastropes are hardcoded into the engine then how come we don't have them?

First of all, I never understood the WHY people want this so called 'fastroping' so much. It serves no purpose since this game does not have collision with heli rotors.

Also, I don't think military in battlefield use fastrope exept in second-class action movie. Although it looks cool, this modification is about reality right? We have more than enough of cool and unreal FPS games out there.

I could literally imagine people stop using fastrope as soon as player use it for first few times. Because when you are fastroping helicopter is suspended still in mid air, making them easy kill for RPG-7 and PKM.

What we need is collision for rotors so helicopter can't just land on narrow street, which is realistic.

By trying too hard, we put ourselves at a greater risk. Don’t you think so?

I partly agree, since most of the time it is significantly easier for the pilot to actually land than to wait for a bunch of guys to "fast"-rope all the way down. But when it comes to a difficult non-flat surface - or, as you said, narrow streets and all that stuff -, fastropes could appear not so useless.

The times the Hitler-Black Hawk Down video gets used is directly proportional to the amount of times Fastropes get mentioned on the PR Forums.

That just means that fastropes themselves are brought up way too much :P

Well, come on guys !

Where is that impossible fact you're all complaining about ?
I could bet only half of all these "nah-fastropes-will-never-be-possible-in-BF2-so-stop-suggesting-again"-responsing-guys do know WHY it isn't possible. So, the rest of you, please shut up !
Yeah, actually fastopes are quite unnecessary in cause of the still unreal fact that the turning rotorblades do not have any collision so you can land your huge chopper almost anywhere you want to. I mean, this is called a "REALITY MOD" ...

Me for myself I do believe it's possible somehow. And it would be awesome, too.
Those of you who are interested in fastropes should reinforce and support those guys that have new ideas and concpets instead of complaing against 'em.

Think and post whatever you want, just keep it in mind ...

Best regards
