The commandments of PR

Post by TF6049 »

These, are pretty much a selection of commandments in PR, for newbs and pros alike. Hopefully this should decrease the stupid mistakes in PR a little bit. Feel free to add.

1. Read the MANUAL - every few months to make sure you didn't miss out on something

2. If you have the option of having someone cover your back...take it! If not, either find an largely unassaultable position or wait till you have a coverer!

3. Listen to what other players say and do - they're not idiots (bow down to experience)

4. With helicopters, try to fly as low to the ground as you are comfortable with to avoid SAMs

5. Don't use an asset if you are doubtful of your capabilities

6. If you want an asset so bad, create a squad and wait for it

7. Sometimes you have to take one for the team - if you have to go commander or something so your team will win (and you care about it), do it

8. Be prepared for anything - a tank column is dead meat if an enemy air asset shows up (bring AA)

11. While you may enjoy experienced play much more than asshattery and noobs, realize that the success of this great game does depend on them. Don't disown, ban, alienate a noob because he's a noob. Do so only if an asshat (but realize the difference between these two :P ). A lot of asshats are created from this process.

12. Instead of swearing at them. teach the noobs, ESPECIALLY if they were willing to ask for it. Remember you were once one of them and not everything is properly explained in the manual.

13. Staying alive and not getting 1337 kills on enemies is much better than going for a 1337 kill and getting shot yourself. Every ticket counts.

14. NEVER fly without at least going onto a training server. Losing an air asset even once is a huge disadvantage to your team.

15. Typing messages is no fun. It leaves you and your squad vulnerable since your warnings will be too late. A microphone can seriously increase your lifespan.

16. If it can't see you it can't shoot you. Keep it that way until you can deliver a knock out blow.
Time to rise to the occasion.

17. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it can't kill you.

For teamplay's sake I'd change this one to this:
2. If you have the option of having someone cover your back...take it! If not, cover your squad-mates back.
To many times people in PR rely on someone else to do there dirty work and let them take the glory. If no one is covering them, they still take the charge or try to make that snipe shot. Getting themselves killed or over-run by just 1 or 2 guys. If no one from your squad is covering you, cover them.

18. vBf2 skills do not translate into PR skills. Forget what you learned, it was rubbish anyway.
19. Theres a reason the military has protocol, learn as much of it as possible to increase your effeciency.

This is for everything in general...not just common mistakes. Commandments of jet flying, heli flying, infing, Fallujah West...whatever.

20 - Hone your skills in practice servers peroidly, and try learning new skills (like using different assests, and commuicating for CAS) as well as improving the ones you already have, so that you may increase your chances of success if you need to use a certain asset or a job that requires skill (the whole game ultimatly) to win.

21 - Patient is the biggest factor to contribute to success, be patient in observing, in planing, in defending and attacking, in learning, in hiding, in sneaking, in teaching newcomers, and everything else.
