Bags over guns when going in water.
This may sound crazy but it is just as the title sounds. In real life when swimming across water, you are going to need to put a bag over the gun. So (if possible) maybe you could add and extra 'weapon' into the inventory which is just a bag that you use to go across water, or the weapon wouldn't work until you reloaded or something like that.

if you know that it wont be implemented because it wont make a difference, it will take up a valuable weapon slot, and the Dev's have far more important things to work on, why suggest it.
IMHO, this is one of the more lamer suggestions in a while.

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
If PR 1.0 includes the soldier slipping a condom over his gun when he enters the water, it will officially be my favorite game of all time.
But in all seriousness, as it is now the gun disappears, so one can simply infer that we're... say... tucking it into a giant waterproof bag we carry around with us? As teek said it would be a lot of work + a weapon slot for not much gain.

You can only have so many weapon slots in BF2 why the heck would they waste one on something so pointless... I gonna go out on a limb here and say this will probably never happen in our life time.

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
I never said I didn't think it would be added in, I said i realise it could not be possible so justt calm down a little.
And it was JUST a suggestion so I don't know why it got such harsh feedback.
Before someone comes up with a comment like 'Because is was a dumb suggestion', maybe it was a dumb suggestion to use a bag as a weapon slot, BUT surely something can be done about the realism when going across water.
Maybe a longer animation for the 'getting ready' time when you get out of water (as in an unjamming process). Because in real life you are going to have to do things like that or the gun could explode in your face.
I'm just trying to help the realism factor of the game and the community...

You can only have nine weapon slots and currently PR uses nine weapon slots for most kits.
Not to mention most guns will actually operate just fine after submersion. Just remember to give a a few seconds to drain.
In all honesty though, that's an aspect of reality that contributes nothing to playing the game.

Solidknight you clearly do not understand that putting a gun underwater will make it possibly explode.
The HK416 amazed people because of its amazing ability to be able to only have a few seconds dry off time. I would love to see a person submerge an M4 in water then shoot it. A huge explosion scar on their face would say otherwise.
A gun exploding in your face is contributing as much to reality as jamming does as you wouldn't be able to hop out the water and blast someone as you come off (which you wouldn't be able to in real life unless you want half a face).

At 1 min is where the M4 explodes.
Most guns need a bit more than a few seconds to drain, which could be the difference between being killed or getting a kill in PR.
Guns liek the G36 could survive underwater, but a standard issue M4 couldn't.

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
the reason for putting the condom over the barrel was to prevent foreign objects entering the barrel not to stop water as the breach of the barrel isn't exactly water proof either so that's why you wade with your gun above your head or because of the water proof sacks you put your stuff in then in your bergan, this acts as a buoyancy aid and you swim with your floating bergan out in front with your rifle on top. (I'm not suggesting that animation as it is a possible waste of time). In other words why would you want this in a game?

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
It is jsut a suggestion that just adds an extra feature to the game 'The Effect of Water on Weaponary' which to be honest is quite a big topic...
Hitman it was just an idea that would add an extra feature to an already almost perfect game.
They have practically finished the whole game and i am jsut suggesting ideas to add that extra smooth finish to the game...

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
If my memory serves me well, makking a jamming or weapon explosion effect to weapons is imposible with the BF2 engine. next to that, what would it add as the soldiers swims to the other side instead of putting the riffle over his head and trying to wade to the other side.Nemper wrote:It is jsut a suggestion that just adds an extra feature to the game 'The Effect of Water on Weaponary' which to be honest is quite a big topic...

Cant really think of a vallid reason to try this. as there are only 9 weapon slots, and why would you want to have this putting a bag around your weapon and getting to the other side, in my opinion that would just be anoying to do ingame.

We already cleared up the idea of using a weapon slot, now i am just suggeting a longer get ready time.

Fair enough, lets see what the DEVs say. Is it possible and if so would it be applied to game play?

Well the thing is then Dutch forces ftw? HK416 was made to stop any damage from being under water.

the HK was made for a lot more than that, but yes it's system keep water from reaching the chamer and can simply empty the barrel and is ready to use

Re: Bags over guns when going in water.
Useless weapon slot, useless idea because gun isnt drawn when swimming, so where would it make the difference....Why would you even bother to put a bag over the gun and then go into the water if you know that un-bagged gun will work anyway...

1. READ THE POSTS! We already decided that using up a weapon slot would be impractical.
2. 'where would it make the difference'. If you have just come out of the water and see an enemy right infront of you then realisticly you wouldn't be able to shoot him straight away at risk of the gun exploding, therefore you have to give it proper drying time.
3. It wouldn't work anyway. You need to let it dry off PROPERLY. A bag would prevent this annoyance. And as before we are already saying no to the bag idea, but now just merely concentrating on the effect of water on guns and dry off time.
And I think someone said about wading and holding the gun above your head. Well you can't when the water is deeper than you (which it often is on maps like Bi Ming where river crossings are used often).
PS. Sorry Hitman i wasn't trying to fight back or anything I was just stating my ground.
