My BF2 Crashes When I Try To Join Any Server Playing "Kashan Desert"

Yea,when client verifying is done,it just crashes to deskop,no warning or anything.

same here, ctd after "squad assignment" button shows up. Reinstalled 85, then patched, still occurs.

Guys watch that you are joining a 0.86 server. I had the same problem just because i joined a 0.85 server.

Kashan Desert needs a hell of RAM, if you don't have big RAM you will crash to desktop so what is your RAM??

Im having the same problem, patched the 0.86 and got a runtime error. Uninstalled PR and BF2, reinstalled still getting the error. I played a round before i got this error now i cant join any servers without it CTD on me.

I installed PR 086 today from a clean and fresh install, first BF2 clean install, patched it to 1.41 and then installed PR 086

But whenever I try to join a game, the game loads and as soon as the Join Squad button appears the game crashes and I go back to my Windows desktop.

BF2 on the other hand runs smoothly, so that's not the problem...

There is only 1 tiny but important detail...I'm running Win7 x64 RC with an ATI HD2900 XT on the latest Catalyst 9.6.

I'm going to try to run it in XP now (ps, XP mode in Win7 doesn't work either, same problem)

edit: It's not only Kashan but every map I tried sofar...
edit2: Latest PB files updated manualy, still the same problem.

I had the same problem but realized that I was trying to join a server running PR version 0.85. Make sure that the server is running PR v0.86, it is usually written after the server name.

No thats not the case, tried almost all popular 0860 servers, at least, they say in the title that they run 0860...been playing PR since v0.4 or something...this is the first time it really doesnt work in any way for me...Think I'm going back to 0856 for the moment...

edit: shit forgot to patch the BF2.exe file for 2GB+ usage...maybe that does the trick for Win7...

Yes that helped to stop my crashes in the past, too. But then i got kicked by the md5 tool (?) after a few minutes on most servers. So what i did, was to lower texture resolution to medium. That helped.
So does the modified BF2.exe really work now without being kicked ?
