As of now, the AR kit is so useful and great laying down suppressive fire, and when the time calls for it, you can send an accurate spray right at the enemies, especially those running medics and wounded running to cover.

I take it the PKM and RPK will not be getting the 4x zoom treatment like the conventional forces. ;) It'd look odd, I bet. :p

These changes sound great. Hopefully it will get more people to use the ARs, so at the opportune moments people actually using them can provide greater suppressive fire accurately. :)

I'm too lazy to hyperlink it. it is the post just before this one.
Same barrel length as an M4? It's six inches longer (but only one inch longer than an M-16).

The maximum effective range of MG's nearly doubles that of rifles in most cases. Though certain contributing factors to that are things we can't model in BF2 (like terrain deflection).

Not on the Minimi-Para short barrel. Is is almost exactly the same length as the M4; only off by a couple of 10ths of an inch, IIRC. I think the Mk-46 Mod 1 might use a slightly longer barrel.

I believe the PKM will be getting an optic for the Russians only (Notice Jaymz said Conventional MGs), while the Insurgents, Militia and Taliban will be without. We'll need to model a new PKM so we can mount a 1P29 on it.

my only concern is if your in a building on the second floor just watching a road through a window, you are not going to be standing right next to the window but probably 5 to ten feet back standing with a bipod deployed. It is better then what now is in its just a shame the bf2 engine is so limiting.

[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:It's the same as it is now except you can shoot in any stance. The deviation is the same for all stances. Of course this means that you could stand in the middle of nowhere, wait eight seconds and have deadly accuracy. But in the majority of cases, there'll be some kind of cover that in reality, you'd be using for weapon stability.
I am glad they finally took this into consideration. Good way to compensate for using objects to stabilize your weapon. I mean, you do this with your rifle too, not just ARs, but this is a step in the right direction.

Heck, a standard issue item for Marines now is a Gripod, which has a built in bipod.

One could argue that you might use furniture and other stuff inside the building to rest your weapon on. Seeing as you won’t find any furniture in PR one needs to look at it as a metaphor . Anyway, resting your weapon directly at the window might be a bit reckless and is usually avoided in real life as showing part of your weapon might give away your position.

According to ELCAN, the SpecterOS3.4x and SpecterM145 have magnifications of only 3.4x. These looks the ones the US and the UK forces use. As far as I can see, the only 4x optic made by ELCAN is the SpecterDR.

The SpecterOS3.4x looks exactly like the sight we put on our SAWs in the MC, but we just call it a "MGO" or Machine Gun optic. The M145 and DR is not familiar to me in the MC, even though it says the US Army uses the M145.

I think it's nice enough just having more people use the Auto Rifleman kit now. It makes them important and spices up the kit load out vastly, but what I love the most is the change in perspective for the undeployed iron sight MG, IT'S BLOODY FANTASTIC.
Time to rise to the occasion.
