The automatic rifleman's primary gun is not good. like on the MEC team the primary gun cant get zomed on to the "iron sights" when standing. :mad:

heres how it works.

Undeployed: unscoped; very inaccurate, normal vision. Scoped in, you have great accruasy in close quarters but you dont look directly down the sights. Its used best when you scope in on undeployed, and crouch when you walk. This way you can move around a corner and clean the back sides of walls.

Deployed: You can now, stand, crouch or go prone and move at the same time when you have the rifle scoped in. You must wait 6-8 seconds for the deviation ring to center, otherwise it will spray all over the place and your shot will be ineffective. But you can only move very slowly to adjust your footing, and once you move, like always the invisible deviation ring snaps to the outside, and you must wait another 6-8 seconds for it to center.

The differences are as follows. They have changed it so that you have the ability to Hip fire while in close quarters, and whipe everything out in close range, the iron sites are now redundant in that way. However, in order to get precise shots you must be patient, find cover, and then scope in. its way more effective to camp with the AR now, than before. as before, any joe soap could grap it, run around and waste ammunition not scoring good kills, and basically the weapon wasnt feared enough. now its a fearsome crowd-pleaser, and if you are being fired upon by it, you will be hesitant to leave cover. in this way the AR is a prodominant part of the squad that the squad leader may use for either, assaulting, or defenceive strategy.

In short, once you get used to it, you will se why the iron sites are unnessesary.

i think having to wait 6-8 seconds is a little much.

I know. Since it's on a bipod it shouldn't take more than a second or two to "settle".

The long pause is to fix a few things. One is now that you can go into deployed mode standing we want to make sure it doesn't become a easy exploit. Is it realistic that a MG needs 6-8 seconds to start firing? No, but in order to get something cool like faking bracing being able to stand and shoot over a wall its worth the wait.


Psykogundam gave some good reasons behind the change.

I like the new view. And the fact you can zoom in on deployed mode without having to be prone now :D

its fun going up on the hills by infantry training and sniping all the infantry using the elcan scope :D ive been waiting for this change for ages :)

Poor US Army on Korgenal; can't leave their spawn due to all the RPG and PKM spam. And if the Taliban forces get some M249s it's game over. I took out thirty guys with the M249. Just mowing them down as they tried to make it past the 100m barrier* outside their base.

*In other words, 100 meters from the exit.

They really need an Apache on that map now.

the LMGs are overpowered now. 500 m distance kill no problem - that's NOT realistic.

I don't know the IRL performance of a M249, but our SM who had it last night racked up 25kills with 10 deaths as insurgent, the most kills in the game.
Even if it is overpowered it is still a limted kit!
I imagine IRL once deployed with a litttle cover it would be very effective, but running about it wouldn't be!
I agree with the 8 second wait, as an ex VBF player I am very happy with any measures that discourage VBF playing style, and encourages care, caution and patience!

M249's effective range is 1000m, killing an enemy who is 500m shouldn't be a problem for an experienced soldier. On the other hand, I don't know ****...
They really need an Apache on that map now.
Korengal is too small for an Apache. Everyone knows that :D

2 good snipers can handle those RPGs teams easily :smile:

if youre pinned by LMG on try to run and avoid bullets.... drop few smokes flank him, thats how it should be done.

For me lmg is much better now, i saw many squads where lmg covering alley while other members where passing, liek in teh_movies.
