PR 0.86 is messing with my mousewheel

In Controls.con
PR patch adds
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PINextItem -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping -1 c_PIPrevItem IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0

Under
ControlMap.create defaultPlayerInputControlMap
even thou it's not needed.
This will mess up any layer ControlMap based configs on mousewheel and is kinda pissing me off atm.
Setting the file to Readonly don't work as PR still add those lines to that file during game startup.


I'm no guru on those files but can someone tell me how i can set that only at infantry the mousewheel works as weapon1 and 2 and that it dont work anywhere else like it used to be ty :)

EDIT: On vista denying write permission to that file per user account will lead PR to crash on startup.

Is there a workaround or do i have to rebind all my weaponkeys?

i'm having the same problem too, luckily i had a back up some where, but even when i fixed all my controls and made it read only it rebinds everything when i run the mod (on XP)

This functionality has been added in purpoce and might not be fixed at all. Apparently some people like to cheat with it.

That's really lame. :roll: I consistently bind my mousewheel this way in all shooters; it's far more elegant than cycling through weapons, and I prefer it over using the keyboard. How is this cheating when specific weapon selection is already available on the keyboard?

I just found a work-around after a couple hours of tinkering with Controls.con, but I don't feel comfortable sharing it if the developers are intent on denying us this functionality. I don't want this broken beyond repair. :-(

How do people cheat with it? Bunnyhopping? I think the superspeed firing was fixed so guns cant fire faster than in reality with the single shot. I think in .5 it was that people used single shot to shoot faster than full auto.

From the official BF2 1.5 changelog:
  • Mouse wheel acceleration on jeeps and APC’s - Fixed
  • Mouse wheel acceleration on parachutes - Fixed
Since PR 0.87 is intended to be released after BF2 1.5, does this mean 0.87 will remove the silly "cheat prevention" and fix the mousewheel for those who like to use it for other functions?
