.86 install help

I searched around the forums a bit and couldn't find a problem relating to this:

Trying to install .86 on a friends computer running Vista. When clicking the installation .exe for .86 core and even .86 levels just lock up his computer. I've set administration status and tried opening in compatibility mode for xp, nothing. I've also redownloaded the files about 3 times, and still no luck.

Any thoughts?
P.S. If this has been answered before please give me a link and don't bother posting here.

I completely re-installed the 0.856 core and levels before applying the 0.86 (not 0.68 ) patch, and noticed that it took absolutely FOREVER for the Installer to start after double-clicking the .exe under Vista.

After getting impatient and re-booting a few times I just clicked and waited, and after about 10 to 15 (!!!) minutes it started the installation routine and it ran without problems.

Not sure if this helps you, but maybe try again with LOTS of patience...

Yup, that was the problem. Waited 10 minutes and sure enough the installer opened.
