Everybody loves this mod, that's why we are here. I don't think any of the smart people are bitching. EA/DICE don't take suggestions from the public but they do take constructive criticism from co-workers and bosses into consideration. I think that's what we are trying to do here, constructive criticism. Trying to make something we love into something more we love. I heard a dev say you guys develop to make a mod you all like. Well we are players playing the mod we like. Let us be constructive.

'[R-DEV wrote:Twisted Helix;1063570']Because at present ... all you come across as doing ... is bitching. (dare I say it ... )
What you say is true.

But what I feel that should be taken into account is that many players usually refrain from speaking about their feelings in-depth. Most forum discussions are general and forced to "keep on topic" which prevents them from elaborating down other paths of expression. Which usually is enforced by the Forum Moderators and/or the Original Poster. What you have here is an eruption of pent-up perspectives ranging from a multitude of beliefs.

I think that a fair number of peoples concerns are not so much about the v0.86 build alone, but moreover the trend of the past several builds. This is certainly the most debate-like action I've seen take place in some time that actually involves players and team members.

Despite the fact that it may be bitching, it's not too surprising to me with the type of reactions and expression taking place here.

OB, were great in 0.6, really saved the community lots of heartache and bug reporting, and was just a general good idea of a way to involve the community..

M.Warren, please do not talk for the community. You are a player as previously mentioned, not a player base, you write hundreds of words without saying anything.

The thing is chaps, the silent majority are the people who love the Mod, play it most nights, and aren't going to come on into these threads and complain about a build which they find completely satisfactory.

I understand that every build will not 100% satisfy everyone. Criticism is the ultimate way to improve, trust me, I understand that, however, there are ways and means of doing it. For example, actually trying out the friggin Mod for at least a month or so before complaining like a woman with no shoes or handbags is a great start.

To be honest, this build is the most realistic build to date. MGs are finally useful, deviation is at an all time best, some things are slightly off, but the majority of the stuff is spot on for what I feel we need. Yet the so called hardcore Project Reality players are the ones making the most noise about how bad it is. I wasn't a big fan of removing choppers from Qwai at first, I aired my voice, but waited, and voila, it wasn't half as bad as I thought. Play the game, then feedback, then new improved build with some extra cool shite. Not see changelog, RAAAWR, play for 1/2 hour, RAAWR, and RAWWR some more.

I realise, in making this post I have essentially posted what I hate seeing, so I shall break it up a bit:

But that is something that was said for like every release that came out and sometimes it got bent over for something else, really. I mean one of the pre-0.85 "realistic" thing were fatal headshots, but then with 0.85 they were removed because "realistically" soldiers are trained NOT to aim for the head, but the center mass of the body.

So the term "realism" in PR gets twisted and bent a lot, but I notice that at times the players proclaim something "realistic".
I know there was a poop storm of the "realism" of medics and reviving in one thread until fuzzhead dropped in and stated that PR's medic system is a game mechanic, not a portrayal of medics in real life combat. So not everything is or will be ever "realistic" in PR, which is the reason I like to throw the word into brackets.

Yesterday I took a scoped british AR kit and ran around solo. By the end of the round I had 20 kills, including a stint where I took out a full 6 man squad in about 2 minutes. Whats that tell you?

Indeed this thread should have been locked as its premise is pretty much the same old complaints we get at every new version bump. People abhor change once they live it.

Thanks to all those who brought some constructive comments, but in the end of the day the thread in itself is empty.

Locked.
