Removing cough effect

Post by Human_001 »

When bleeding out, I don't see any good reason why there should be coughing when going into blackout. Especially because it sounds so loud compare to other effect sound like gun shot. I personally feel it is nothing but annoying. I don't even know if dying person (from gunshot) actually coughs. Even if he/she is shot in lung. Reality is good. But when trying to 'depict' reality virtually there is things like this that is nothing but annoying and contribute little or nothing.

I could literally see voice actor going cough cough in studio recording this effect. I can hear everything. Not so good to hear over and over again.

well, i know that people with lung/throat injuries try to do a lot of coughing as their body is trying to breath but cant. Its trying to clear the airway, usually of blood.

I still want wild, unrestrained screaming to prevent me having to do it over TS/Mumble.

I think coughing is fine and pretty realistic but the effects of bleeding and coughing are not.

Or it could be something like: "Please buddy tell my wife I love her and i am sorry for..."
Or something more philosophical like: "Now at last i won eternity. I'll find the spirits of warriors and stand in front of them as equal"

Well...
I thing that coughing is fine for now.
It gives some atmosphere and forces you to find a medic (or curse the devs for the medic kit limitation :mrgreen :) fast to stop it.

Also the medics nearby hear you better and can prioritize heal-targets.

If you are coughing and enemy is nearby you can not engage that much, in the most cases you are dead anyway. ;)

good statement ^^
anyways, random effects, like crying, screaming, or even coughing will make the atmosphere more intense.
the existing effect is imo much too loud, the enemy can hear you, if youre two blocks
away...

Replace the coughing with "Medic! Where's the ****ing medic?! Somebody give me some damn patches! This is bull****!"

lol!

The coughing never really caught my attention, just lets me know when I REALLY need to find that supply crate for patches. I guess you could be coughing up blood or something, kinda goes with the red shader on the screen.

groaning and moaning, with the occasional 'help me!!!' might be better/ I mean its more realistic, than someone who sounds like there bored during a business meeting..

Is it just me and my computer, or is it that when you cough, you can hear like multiple coughs at once! along with the gaging. They just need to fix the four coughs in 1 second

"Son... Take this "cough, cough*...give it to your *heavy breathe*...dad...*cough, cough*. I...I t-t-t-ttell you the last thing..." then he dies.. lol k

Coughing sounds silly sometimes, but the buzzing is more annoying as you can hear it in 3rd person.

No and I would like to keep it that way.

As annoying as it can be, it does help let the medic know that you are about to drop. I think it's supposed to represent coughing up blood, which seems to be pretty common in tv/movies when someone is badly injured.

have you?

the devs make it as realistic as possible, perhaps the coughing is over done is not correct at all, but its a low priority thing on contrast to bigger bug issues and maps etc. to deal with.
