i do not want the pistol back, do you have any idea what its like when your on mutrah getting ready for the cobra to spawn, and you got 6 people waiting and 10 seconds before it spawns 1 guy kills you all and takes it? Well not having the pistol solves that.

They have otherways to get creative. unless you have admins watching over the events, TKing will never end. Then again, we could also make all the shoot out water instead of bullets, and that would also solve the problem.

I have to say I haven't felt a large difference in TKs over assets in 0.8 and 0.85, so that's not a problem.

No, admins solve that. Tbh, anyone who wants to TK you for it will do it with his rifle, then get the pilot kit.

Good question, I'm guessing some of them do, depending on what type of helicopter they fly.

Give the pistol back and give only 1 magazine for it. Problem solved.

I agree make a Tier 3 menu, so you can evolve the game :p ?

If you hit pilot you can choose ur specification. Helo pilots get a pistol but no parachute and Jet pilots get a parachute but no pistol...

If you are smart you could also add Scoped MG / Ironsight MG, Sniper camo what so ever you name it !

I'm against the OP's idea.

I know that having an unorganized team with more pilots than aircraft is not a good situation to begin with, but it's impossible to completely stop that from happening - this idea however supports that behaviour as a side effect: If two people grab a pilot kit while there's only one aircraft, one of them will be stuck with an useless kit. Many people will prefer to wait for the next air asset to spawn instead of killing themselves in that situation, increasing the number of people taken away from the battlefield.

So while the idea is not bad, I see a bad side effect here.

Being able to put the hands up would be neat though, just for the sake of it. Maybe a few players will have mercy and let the pilot go, as he'd be back faster if they killed him.

give the pilots a pistol but only give them 1 extra mag. ps i don't see why this has to be restricted,

who the hell is stupid enough to use the kit in combat i mean come on who is that stupid.

Ehmm.. I don't know which servers you play on, but most of the ones I play on have rules to ensure that there won't be any fighting over assets.
There is the Helo squad, they get the helicopters. They stay open until they have the same amount of pilots as respawnable helicopters.
On muttrah for example, where the LB's don't respawn anymore we will have a LB squad, and when they crash they don't get to fly anymore, they will have to go do something else.

So I don't see how that would be any more of a problem than it is with crewman kits or how it's even relevant to the topic?
You can still get too many pilots now, it has nothing to do with the pistol.



And to Red Alert and RHYS, it's not the amount of ammo that's the problem.
The pilot just needs to kill 1 person and then they can pick up the enemy kit.

One solution is to get rid of the parachute, sure. But pilots can still drop crates, so they can still land, drop a crate and request kits from the crate.
So actually removing the pistol from pilots didn't solve the problem for the transport helicopters with crates. (and like we all know these are the most common helicopters in the game)


My suggestion is to make it so the pilot either has to die or RTB to get a new kit, effectively forcing pilots to take their helicopter back if they want to do something else.
You could of course remove the parachute aswell, since it's really not effective in the game anyway.

Do both of these things and sure, pilots can still fly a helicopter in behind enemy lines, land, drop a crate and get out, but when they try to request a kit from it, nothing happens.
So they go shoot an enemy, then try to pick up his kit and just like the civilian, they die.
It is literally impossible for the pilot to get another kit without being back at main.

Well I think it really is about the ammo, I wouldn't attack enemy with only 14(?) bullets to use, unless I was close and enemy didn't spot me.

Anyway, the pistol in worse than what it was in 0.8 (or other weapons are simply better). I can't kill easily with it anymore, so I don't see a problem at all.
