Tips for avoiding enemy jets on Kashan?
I need some proven tips for avoiding jets as a CAS or fighter pilot. Anyone willing to share their secrets?

There is a thread about this somewhere, just search around a bit and you might find it.

It's simple to avoid AA. If someone spots AA, drop flares on every second when inside danger zone. It's possible to jam AA with flares guite well.

And don't go hunting for targets yourself. Stay somewhere safe until someone gives you a precise location, go in, hit in, then get out again.

Yeah, just do what everyone is saying, and now, my tip is:
Try to go as small groups, not large convoys, they make perfect prey for a Frogfoot or a A10.

Everyone is wrong IMO, just go really, really high because there's so much depth in the map that finding a jet that's a long way up is nearly impossible with view distance and lock distance, plus with attack markers you can still ravage positions with hydras and cannon, or use lazed jdams for the win.

That works with the Cobra on Muttrah, but there are no "safe zones" on Kashan (Muttrah, behind the mountains/at the carrier)[R-MOD]dunehunter wrote:And don't go hunting for targets yourself. Stay somewhere safe until someone gives you a precise location, go in, hit in, then get out again.

The best place to cruise is about 3000+ which is where I fly at until called in for a strafe.
You should never be under 1000m in a CAS aircraft unless you are attacking a called in target.

IRL There is no such thing as a CAS operation without air superiority.TF6049 wrote:I need some proven tips for avoiding jets as a CAS or fighter pilot. Anyone willing to share their secrets?![]()

There you go. Except 3000 is a bit high. 2000-2500 would be better. If you go looking for targets yourself, AA will take you down hard.joethepro36 wrote:The best place to cruise is about 3000+ which is where I fly at until called in for a strafe.

go really high, but going to high and you can loose control of the aircraft. also you go really fast when high up, so have your map open

SA, Situational Awareness.
Theres really no trick to avoiding jets, as they can go everywhere you can go. Your only hope is to spot them first, done so by keeping a scan up constantly.
Weapons 7,8, and 9 provide a left, right, and up view out of the cockpit. Once on the "view", pressing your alternate weapon fire button, the view will go an extra bit. Using this view system, you can scan outside of your cockpit and be constantly looking for enemy jets. It also works wonders in dogfights

Really? Why would anyone WANT to avoid a duel in a high speed dogfight? As a CAS pilot I understand but a fighter pilot?

Re: Tips for avoiding enemy jets on Kashan?
If your the CAS (Hog/Froggy) provider? Get up, and out of the fight. 3000+ plus. I usually hang out at 3500+ plus. That gives me plenty of time to 1) line up on a target, 2) be ready for corrections on targets, 3) have enough momentum to pull back up to a safe altitude.
If you are air superiority? 1500 high, do not ever fly in a straight line, try and stay on your side's side of the mountains unless the other FIGHTER is confirmed down, then you can go hunting at 1500+ for anything that's airborne.
Remember, spots on enemy jets are only good for about 5-10 seconds tops, each new ground spot refreshes that and after about 3 spots you can figure out the path the enemy is at, but that's only good for 15 seconds tops.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: Tips for avoiding enemy jets on Kashan?
Yeah, i agree with chris, there us really no tricks too avoid the enemy jet, it depends on the player, i like
to stay up really high, around 2000, some peope like to stay inside the clouds, at around 1000. I like to be
high up so that i just roll to the left or right and press alt and look down with my mouse to spot aircraft.
But most of the times the bombers are high up in 3000-4000 because they are slower and can fly at that
alt without loosing controll, on the other hand, fighters will just go lightning speed out of bounds..
But now its whoever pilot spots the other aircraft first wins.
