Sniper Prone Feature

Post by Edub »

on Levels like jungle fever and steel thunder when you go prone in the high grass and look through the scope you cant see anything. Would it be possible to add a feature where you can move the grass out of the way when you lay down?

EA's method in BFv was to make the grass invisibal upclose, which really didnt work atall well. Also it would be impossibal to make the grass move to the side in the way its done at the mo...

Yeah, there are games in development where each blade of grass is a model rather than a sprite, but BF2 isn't one of them. You either have to get up or move around a bit to fix this one. I like it as it is, I like shooting through grass if I can line up a shot, it's very good for your cover.

Me too. I like the fact that you can hide. What I was suggesting (but dont know if possible) was that when you lay down your character takes his hand and moves the grass away right in front of the scope. Probably not possible though.

BF2's grass is just sprites. It's just a load of 2D images designed to appear perpendicular to your line of sight, and most of the time these are animated (yay for video lag). There's no way to interact with them without an immense of coding, which seems silly as all you have to do is get up. Real snipers don't clear the area in front of them anyway. :)
