Lean left, Lean right option
This is probably in the coding, but, is it possible to make it so you could lean left and right, so you can lean around a corner to check things or fire instead of sticking most of your body in the open.

for one featurehop_ic wrote:maybe this mod should be ran on a different platform then
but yeah, i think the reason BF2 didnt put this into the game is that BF2 is more open and focused on vehicles, its not close urban combat where you are going to peak around every corner, and the fact that they use so many buttons as is!
OH and one reason i heard is they didnt want to make the game "too complicated" for people who were new to FPS, pretty dumb if you ask me, but then again alot of things that... eh nevermind

I'm not a coder, I've never coded in my life but I know what is and isn't possible. Adding new commands to BF2 is impossible, commands can only be replaced. Think of the options menu, it's not so easy for the team just to completely add something and rearrange the HUD just to fit the new buttons.
"Leaning" is not possible because the BF2 engine deals with two types of animation simultaneously. The 3rd person animation, which is you running, jumping, diving, shooting, whatever; and the 1st person animation which is you shooting. The BF2 engine is programmed to have the 1st person animation always assigned to the exact same location on the map, about 5'6" from the floor. The only thing that can change this location is the crouch button which lowers it, and the prone button which lowers it further. The third person animation links all these together. You're asking for them to add two new locations to this, which is impossible. The BF2 engine comes with prone and crouch hardcoded in, but adding two new positions would be a heck of a lot of coding, not to mention the third party animations that would be required, and the DEVs don't actually have a full time animator yet. That's why all the new models use existing animations (SLAM - C4, P228 - M9, SPR - M16).
My conclusion is you guys stop being lazy and work as a squad. If you want to go round a corner without getting shot, use the overwatch maneuver. You watch each other's backs in your squad and everyone's safe. Adding a new feature just so you guys can be safe when sneaking round corners is asking for a lot, especially when it's one that's either impossible or almost impossible to code.

That's dumb. A good game developer makes it easy for a new person (I hate the word noob) yet impletments advanced options for those of us who know what we're doing. *Sigh.

Malik, you're a bit harsh at times. They're just suggesting neat features. Leaning is not lazy, it's smart! Play some AA!Malik wrote:

You mean like in Call of Duty? I would like that. It would make the firefights much more realistic and easier to do.blackpulpit wrote:This is probably in the coding, but, is it possible to make it so you could lean left and right, so you can lean around a corner to check things or fire instead of sticking most of your body in the open.
'[R-PUB wrote:trogdor1289']It is hardcoded into BF2 that you cannot lean.
Perhaps Project Reality should develop its own engine. It would liberate it from all of the bugs the Battlefield 2 engine has.hop_ic wrote:maybe this mod should be ran on a different platform then

Call of Duty 1 and Call of Duty 2 has leaning and it has no glitches. Then again, I doubt the ability of the people at EA and DICE to come up with a decent lean feature. It would have been nice if they had left it to the modders though. So much for "We'll leave the truly realistic experiences to the mod teams who thrive on that type of action."SilvuR wrote:"Lean" features always lead to glitches and exploits anyway. Anyone who has ever played the Delta Force series knows what im talking about. Im glad they left it out.
