Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
I suggest splitting MEC to 3 Factions. This will still give the devs freedom and should bridge the ideas of most of you.
United Arab League
A millitary organization based on the League of Arab States
Persian Islamic Alliance(Maybe Joint Islamic Federation would be more accurate.)
Equipment based on Iran
Middle Eastern Coalition
Any countries in the middle east that have separate religions or political ideals from the other 2 factions. This will be the generic ME faction.

MEC
Actual MEC with german firearms and lots of russian hardware
UAL
Westernized assets mostly with very few russian arms/vehicles
Iranian armed forces
Well... Iranian assets.
I think that would recategorize better as for asset diversification. But that's only IMO.

I agree with you here, MEC, UAL and IRIA would be better.Tannhauser wrote:MEC

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
Syria would not be part of MEC since they are part of the UAL.
MEC would be made up of the nations not in UAL apart from Iran.
Countries in the Arab League:
Saudi Arabia
Egypt
Algeria
United Arab Emirates
Kuwait
Morocco
Iraq
Syria
Sudan
Tunisia
Qatar
Libya
Oman
Yemen
Lebanon
Jordan
Bahrain
Mauritania
Somaliab
Palestineb
Djibouti
Comoros
All other Middle Eastern nations apart from Iran are in MEC.

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
Why does UAL and MEC have to exist at the same times?
UAL could exist near the actual Iraq occupation times while MEC would exist in the near future, taking over the UAL or just some few UAL countries.
I think this would leave you with enough choices and a larger pan opportunities for mapping like with MEC.
I recommend you don't count turkey as a participating member of the military UAL branch. IRL Turkey is in good relations with NATO/EU. And also, not arab.

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
Ok, after looking at a a map it seems like a good idea to put these countries together.
United Arab League
Egypt
Saudi Arabia
Yemen
Oman
United Arab Emirates
Iraq
Jordan
Syria
Kuwait
MEC would be in the other middle eastern maps besides Iran.

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
Guys, you need to understand that even though the MEC is an unreal faction, it gives the devs TOTAL control and allows them to give the MEC anything they want. Without the MEC, we probably wouldn't have the T-72, the G3A3 might still be the Vanilla version, the G3 variants would probably not be around, and the MEC sniper rifle would be non existent. Guys, let the devs have their fun and be creative with at least one fake faction, make all the Middle Eastern Armies you want, but keep the MEC.

MEC is fine as it is... or atleast i think so. u dont need to fiddle with all the ethniticites and the fact that nothing is 100% unrealistic for the faction...

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
MEC is fictional force - theres no doubt about it..which is its biggest selling point - big creative license.
The vast majority of community mods are made by people of the same nationality that want to see their own country represented in PR, I personally think its hypocritical to demand the community work on individual ME armies if your not willing to do it yourself as national pride is a huge motivation in community mods.
If you want any of these factions to actually be real start working on them, research the supposed country military - form a design plan and get working on actual asset production.
Personally I'm interested in Syria army mod and Hezbollah as they are relevant to my work.

Uh, doesn't Iran use the F4 Phantom instead of Russian fighters?
I think we only need Iran, and a paramilitary organization like Hamas. MEC would remain as the countries left ton the Persian Gulf and West.

Re: [Proposal] New Middle Eastern Armies
MEC is good as a large force, if you seprate it into small armies "MEC" would be severely watered down. The only logical way I could see this to work (individual Arab countries having thier own armies) is if you change the Insurgency mode to a "Revolution" mode. PR has a futuristic war set up were MEC is a powerfull force. It would not allow the US to go into Iraq and take control (and have Insurgents fight). You could make an Iraqi army that would fight a revolution in Iraq . It would be much more realistic. MEC cant bother with a revolution b/c its fighting the US so Iraq in this case has to send thier own army to deal with it.
