Insurgents surrendering

Post by Qaiex »

Like we all know the insurgents don't use most of their weapon slots, I think we should add the give up the civilians get to the slot where BLUFOR have their Field Dressings.
When insurgents give up they should naturally not be allowed to run, only walking.

This would work sort of like a tradeoff, if you give up, blufor goes and arrests you, you get a lower respawn time in exchange for giving up 2-3-4 intel points instead of the regular 1.
If blufor shoots a surrendering insurgent they loose 1 point instead.

And it has to have a delay so insurgents can't just throw their hands up when they know they're going to be shot to make blufor loose points.
And a delay for putting your hands down, to make sure they don't just pull their weapons up again and shoot the person coming to arrest them.

Thoughts?

cant make it delay when putting weapons away. Plus this woul add to the slaughter of the insurgents. Enemy gets more intel.

And what would be the point in giving up? Just to get a lower spawn time? I don't think it would be worth it.

Ditto, its promoting more independent thinking and not thinking for your team

well, it would be more realistic wouldnt it? most people prefer being captured to being killed.

If you add hands up animation to other than collaborator it will render collaborator only shield agains bullets useless.

You can't have every thing from RL in game. Some would just ruin the gameplay. Like if everyone starts giving up, insurgents would lose the round too fast. That just doesn't fit.

This would be good if it was the opposite, an insurgent surrenders but no intel is gained for a slightly longer spawn time.

Screw logic, teamwork ftw! :P

Yeah I haven't thought this through, I want some ideas forming here. :D
I think theres something here to work with, I just don't know what, yet.

My original thought was you would get back into the fight quicker, live to fight another day.
Because really, insurgents aren't that teamwork oriented, having them be selfish is logical and adds to the asymmetric warfare.
BLUFOR = Teamwork
Insurgents = Not so much

The tradeoff is simple that way.
Example.

You give up.
Respawn, hook up with your squad and with your help they can defend themselves against a blufor assault with minimal casualties. You have just drained 6-8 enemy tickets in exchange for maybe 4 intel points.

You don't give up.
You get killed. While you're waiting to respawn, your squad cannot hold their position and get whiped out, they only manage to drain 2 enemy tickets and with respawning, they lost 10 intel points and have now given up the location of a cache.

It's not a perfect system, but you get my point.

And btw the Taliban never give up, they fight to the death. I *think* as my friend pointed out, had to do with their religion or something.

In real life, Insurgents fight to the death, they DO NOT want to be captured.

Great, another way for the insurgents to win. This is basically being a "temp civilian".

TBH, insurgents should have less AT and AA capabilities. The BLUFOR can win almost every map if their assets aren't used, just because of the insurgents having so many Anti-vehicle weapons available to them. RPG's are everywhere, huge minefields are spread across maps, and air assets are taken down so quickly even when used correctly and efficiantly.

But back on topic.. do insurgents surrender in real life? Would players use the "surrender" ability? Can it be used to gain an unfair advantage?

i still think we should apply this to the collaborator, would make them stop acting suicidal

Only 1 point! You lose 200 for a civillian! Atleast i do. You should lose 10 points if u shoot surrending insurgent.
Many of you says that they never surrender............Like,someone may do!..........I wouldnt surrender if this thing would be put in game, but someone may do.............And the religion, its something if u die for your country you will have a golden key.......Im not really sure, but i think ivee heard that......

Make it that If INS had hands up and gets killed, killer gets same punishments as shooting a civie with hands up. But the difference would be, the civilian could raise hands up anytime and he shouldnt be shot in the moment he rises them, while insurgent would have to wait 5 seconds after rising hands, so they wouldnt spam.

If you dont die Allah will not deliver the 30 virgins.

So unless you are an atheist Insurgent, you should fight to death

I can see this being used as a tactic by insurgents. Civilian(s) with hands up.. squad runs up to arrest.. insurgents detonate C4 or attack from a hidden location. Civilian still gets his virgins.. win win situation!
