Map List, Map types, Future Maps and Layouts

Hello,

a couple of things:

1) Map Inventory

I have made a search to find a list of maps in development and their specifications. I remember, that there was such a post somewhere, but I could not find it. Can someone point it out for me?

2) Map Layouts

While I greatly enjoy most of the current maps, especially the still somehow asymmetrical but genius Qwai River (mobility vs firepower), the symmetric but heavy asset infested Kashan, the beautiful Korengal, and, of course, the urban landing Muttrah City. Most of the other maps have a very characteristic feeling as well, but if I had to point out three maps that give me a very distinctive playing feeling, I would choose those four.



Here are my questions:

a) What other asymmetrical maps of the type of Qwai River are in the making? Especially the feature of un-equal asset disposal can give a map a nice twist in gameplay. If that would be combined with a clear offensive/defensive faction deployment, with the offensive faction having a slight bleed but superior offensive assets, and the defensive faction getting better fighting positions and few strong offensive assets.

An example sketch of such a layout would be on the following image.

Legend: 4x4 km, Top Right White Square, Defending faction; Lower Left White Square, Attacking faction. Dark Brown and Green: Low and High Hills. Grey: village buildings. Lines are roads.

Attacking faction receives: MBTs for shore bombardement, Amphibious APCs to cross water. Transport and Attack helicopters. Uncapable Starting flag, but starts with slight bleed and has an advantage in tickets. In addition to this, the attacking faction receives a couple of mortar strikes at the beginning of the round in order to breach the first river defense line.

Defending faction receives: Main Battle Tanks, APCs, Trucks, mobile AAs, Attack Helicopter. HQ is capable. Also, the main assets of the defensive faction spawn in some bunkers, preventing it to be attacked by the initial offensive mortar attacks. The defensive faction can spawn at forward defense position near the river. Some mounted TOWs and .50 cals are placed there.

There are three flags on the map, and all represent targets of tactical and strategic importance. Red and green for territorial control of the battlefield, and yellow for the capture of the enemy defensive base. Both factions get JDAMs every hour of the game.

Another idea based on a strategic opening situation would be a dug in battalion in a city under siege (defense: armor, apc, A-10 statics; offense A-10, Helicopter, Tanks & APCs). Attacker team attacks from three or four sides.


b) Are there any other Heavy asset maps a la Kashan in the making? Do they have symmetrical or asymetrical layout?

Unknown although Siege at Ochamchira appears to be an attack/defend map, link.

Apart from that I don't know. Relevant to this is the fact that PR currently does not have a gamemode tailored to these requirements although im sure a revamped counter attack mode could be sorted out.

Yes, from what I can tell from the above list. Most likely symmetrical although there are numerous maps like Sangin which will be BLUFOR with heavy assets v Insurgents/Taliban.
