Use the Reinforcements marker everytime you are not able to eliminate an enemy squad at once. This way the rest of the team knows that your squad is engaging the enemy. Since it gets deleted automatically after a minute or so it is starting to be my primary method of letting the team know where the enemy is.

Really helpfull, especially in the Jungle and Militia maps.

Also, since we now do not know our direction from the map any more, markers are more important than ever

My one liner for this thread is: "Don't stop moving long enough for the enemy to shoot at you." I keep my squad on the move at all times unless I need to conceal my squad's position or build something. Always keeping your squad on the move is crucial for new pubbies who aren't used to the sit and cap mentality. Giving them something to do makes them focus, and that is something I need because I like my squad staring at my *** constantly because then I know I have my attention. I even have my guys run laps around around the flag or were moving from back yard to back yard on the capzone or up and down stairs in buildings going every where.

PR .85 Squad Leading Update!

I will now update with relevant tactics for .85. I am not going to bother going through all of the previous posts to delete the stuff that is irrelevant now. But most of it should be pretty obvious.

1). Forward Supplies
You need them. End of story. If you do not have forward supplies, your squad effectiveness is reduced by (my personal estimate) 60%. The best kit load out in my opinion would be Officer, HAT, Medic, Specialist, Auto Rifleman, and then a variable kit to fit the situation.

2) Getting forward supplies
Assuming your team is halfway capable on a map involving Hueys, the best route is calling in a supply drop from a Huey to your squads location. If you are not in a map involving Hueys, I typically start off in a transport truck, move my squad to the desired location, drop a crate, and have the least valuable (often a rifleman) squad member go and rearm the truck and bring it back. Depending on the situation I either build a firebase, or save the crates for when we move out to the next point.

3) Medic
In the earlier versions of PR, I never ran with a medic in my squad. With the capability to request whatever kit you wanted from an RP, I felt it was always for effective to have additional firepower than to revive a downed person. Now, with the limited spawning and kit requestability, reviving someone with a limited kit becomes very critical. This is because you will most likely not have supplies next to you, and therefore if you have an extremely valuable kit (like HAT), you should try your hardest to get them revived. The loss of that kit can be devastating due to the long respawn time of it.

That is it for right now, I will update again later with more tips.

PR. 86 Mini Update!

1) Limited Kit Spawning and You

With the advent of being able to spawn in with a limited kit, it means a couple of things. First off, it is very hard for me to think up a situation where not having someone spawn in with a SAW is a good idea. For me, it has been of a bit of an adjustment to remember that I now constantly have someone in my squad with a SAW. This means I can perform for flanking maneuvers with more squad members once contact has been made, due to the fire superiority that the SAW provides. Also, remember that you can now change to Ironsights from Optics once you are in a CQC situation.

2) Officer Kit Swapping

One other thing I have noticed that is possible now in .86 is what I call "Kit Swapping". If you are wounded and down for some time (I forgot how much exactly) you kit will disappear and if you are revived, you will have whatever kit is selected from you kit selection menu. This gives you the opportunity to change from Optics to Ironsights in different situations, and can be very beneficial depending on your tactical situation.

That's it for now!

Here's mine. A simple list that doesnt require too much from and SL or it's squad.

1. Make sure you set your rallies and move/attack markers frequently.

2. Inform your squad members of you plans and what you expect of them upon their arrival into the squad.

3. Keep your squad together, never letting anyone stray more than 20M from you at all times, unless there is a reason for them to do so.

4. Pick the right kits, making sure that your squad is asking you what kits to grab prior to them grabbing them. Ideally a squad should have officer, medic, Auto rifle, rifleman, LAT or HAT and grenadier. Grenadier is the one you'd want to sacrifice if you were to decide a marksman or engineer.

5. Set your rules of engagement as they present themselves and inform your squad of them.

6. Make sure everyone is calling out their targets using the proper communication methods. Giving compass direction, distance and elevation (high, low or in between.)

The thing that makes PR great is that it provides plenty of time for a squad to assemble at the beginning of a round and go over what is expected of them and to give a brief overview of the game plan. Use that time wisely.

Make it fun...

Not over zealous role playing but just remember those lil characters on screen are controlled by real people just like you, when they're in your squad you're also their host. Give them a good game, make it exciting, panic, laugh withdraw under covering fire, be adventurous.
Mad firefights in jungles over nothing can be fun... and good practice

Make it worthwhile...

It dosn't matter if you want Jones to go stare at a tree and give "recon" if he knows it's going to be a shitty job he wont wanna do it. Jones needs to feel like his job... Stariing at a tree, is the most important job in the world and he'll need congratulating for it regularly.

If people do a good job some of the best rounds are with people keeping 1 kit all round, you get to know them as Crisis the L-AT, Heskey the auto rifle, Themedic... The medic, they all do their job and do it well and with encouragement any pubby can feel that responsibility of "their job" which is rewarding

when you inform your squad of your evil plans, tell them why they're doing it and what you hope to achieve, if they don't know why they're doing it and what you expect from them then there's no point

Think what you'd do if you were the enemy...
Think about everything around you...
Think about what's the worst thing that could happen? and be prepared for it...

If you're intelligent this is when playing against a bunch of tards can become a challenge.

If you think you'd do something if you were in the enemies shoes then defend yourself against it.
If you think soldiers will flank down the alleyway then get someone to cover that alleyway (probably Jones, he'll be bored, he's been tree staring for a while now)

Got AT? Go tank hunting! Not got AT? then run away from tanks!

KISS your players...

Keep it simple stupid

At the end of the day you've got a goal to achieve and that's hopefully to win the game throguh superios tactics. You may have language barriers with some players or one may be 12, another might be just plain stupid.
If you have an extremely complex pincer attack with one supporting fireteam distracting for a fast assault team then reinforcing... your SMs dont neccessarliy need to know.

Use your squadmembers as blunt instruments, tell him to shoot there, hell shoot there, tell him to empty his nade pouch over the wall, he does it.

Whatever your plan is and no matter how stupid it's appear, roll with it and take the blame if it goes wrong, squadmembers wont abandon you for a screw up (unless theyre tossers) accept the bad and carry on with a different idea, learn.

Stamp your Authorit-ay...

you're there to have fun to. If people dislike your style of SLing then they can piss off. allow people to give their input on a plan and consider it with no bias (you are not the centre of the universe after all) and either accept and adapt or reject and explain.

You're the SL and you have final say and responsibility if it goes tits up, the grunts are just there to pull the trigger :D

again, you're the boss so dont feel bad about expecting something to be done promptly when you order it be done, you ask for a lot of things but order for most, the game is military realism, and in them military you follow your orders no matter how insane, when it all goes to shit you can say "he told me to do it!"

That's all I've got for ya

This ^. The rest of your guide was excellent as always, but this is very important! Sometimes a Squad-member does an excellent suggestion that I havent thought of for some reason. So listen to 'm as a SL. But explain why not while you continue with your plan if you dont like there suggestion. Dont say just: No, move here. That will putt 'm off for future suggestions.

always. order individual ppl. this dose not work: "can 2 guys guard the back door, the rest get the front" that never works. (been proven even in psycology) instead order certin ppl in the squad to do so
