and mcluv, its not possible to make a missile lock in mid flight without it already in a tracking mode from the second its launched.
What about when missiles are fired, fly through flares, lock onto other objects, and they then get the warning? In that case, to replicate it, couldn't you just make it so that they don't lock onto objects while in the tube, but once they're out their anglebonus code locks them?

I thought that at least would be possible.

Don't really know much about that part for myself, but in vBF2 they can, and most likely will lock on the next heat source as you may know.
Never got a warning from it tho.
Got accused of cheating once that way after shooting down the same pilot about 10 times or so in the same round :D

that's an idea that could work if you mean putting a collision mesh round the missile that blocks the missile from locking onto anything then some how expires a certain time after launch but ye, it would have to be a predefined value and wouldn't be controlled by the user.

In fact thinking about iirc I think there is a lock delay in the locking code but ye (not talking HUD locking talking the missile's lock delay after firing), still not controllable by the player would only be a predefined value.

In any modern AA like the linebacker, tunguska you have to lock on to aim on a target .... or do u think u can manually shoot a flying by jet in 3km distance without radar?????????????????????
With infrared (as LeadMagnet mentioned) and even optical tracking (for the guns)? Yes, a skilled anti-aircraft crew can do that. The rates of elevation and traverse on self-propelled and even stationary AAGs are in general pretty high, usually at least 60 degrees per second, making them equal to or better than most IFVs "on the draw."

Can I just ask what HAA stands for?

I think the poster intends it to stand for Heavy Anti-Aircraft, since I don't remember seeing these vehicles referred to as such in the manual.
