I recently played a few games and from what I've seen it seems ammo isn't shared between the two MG stances. The two instances I've had of this was when I tried to reload an American M249 in undeployed and wasn't able to but being able to in the deployed state. The second was when I fired a mag from an Al Quids then switched to deployed. The deployed state said that I had 8 mags but the undeployed state said that I had 7.
I'm not sure if it's the same with more guns but I'll try to check next time I'm playing.

The ELCAN M249 has been addressed, but will check on the Alquds.
