BSOD 4 times since .86 came out
Hi,
My system runs vista64 with 4 gb. of ram, gtx280, xfi titanium. This computer has NEVER blue screened until last week.
About a day or so after installing the .86 patch my system blue screened in between rounds with no warning. The next day it happened again - seeminly at random, then it happened a third time an hour later.
Yesterday it blue screened for a fourth time only this was in the middle of a fallujah round (I was manning the .50 cal in a hummer at the time).
The message is 'PAGE FAULT IN NON-PAGED AREA'.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Thanks,
Kandor

Could be a power/heat issue? I know PR used to make me BSOD when I had a underpowered PSU.

I dont think blue screen is due to overheating the gpu rather the cpu. I think 0.86 takes even more of the cpu then 0.85......not so much harder on the gpu.bkandor wrote:Hi,

Hi,
I did the mem fix before for .85 - but .86 wouldn't undo that would it? - thanks for reminding me about that. Although before that fix and during .85 in general I never ever had a bsod. Maybe just an app crash to desktop etc.

Re: BSOD 4 times since .86 came out
interesting, I had the same thing twice while playing PR
it used to run smooth in 0.85, runs Crysis, Far Cry 2 and Prototype without issues and since the new release it goes nuts from time to time.
Im running on the latest drivers so that cant be it.

Re: BSOD 4 times since .86 came out
Strange, I've been getting this too.
In total, i have BSoD-ed 3 times on Muttrah and 1 time on Kashan, mostly within the first 5 minutes. I upped the RAM voltage from 2.0V to 2.05V and I haven't had it in 3 days... Maybe .86 pushes the system harder? No idea.
System specs (similar to OP)
Q6600 @ 3.15Ghz, GTX 260, 4 GB ram, X-fi Titanium, 650W PSU, Vista Ultimate x64
Latest drivers, overclocks stable as a rock.
Edit: Oh yeah, and the BSoD error was PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA

Strange, I've bsod'd only once while playing, the other 4 times were during a map load (never the first map) but always after a map had ended and the next one was loading...

Re: BSOD 4 times since .86 came out
I think it's something in .86 or a combination of .86 and another program. Do you use ventrillo?
I bsod'd again last night and PR wouldn't load a map after that until I deleted my bf2 cache files. I think I'm up to 7 times now. Only once during a round, the rest while loading a round (but never the first one).

Erm , you say in one of your dump logs Service pack 1 right, are you using vista?
If so it is on SP2 now, and newer drivers may be having compatability issues with Sp1...

I've heard about sp2 for vista, but it hasn't appeared in my updates yet...

Re: BSOD 4 times since .86 came out
Sometimes it doesnt, try going to Microsoft's website and get it manually, that may be the issue, also make sure your .net Framework is fully installed properly, ie3.5 sp1
