.8 to .85(m4)
im not exactly sure where to put this thread so i put it here. just wondering in real life does the m4 have a three round burst mode or automatic fire mode. im asking this because back in 0.8 the m4 had fully automatic capabilities but in 0.85 they changed it to have only semi automatic and three round burst. So if this mod is based on realism i would not be sure whether in real life the m4 has a fully automatic fire rate or three round burst. some other example: arma;burst, arma 2;full auto; insurgency;full auto,cod4;full auto. thats all i can think of right now but there is probably more.
edit:i did search but nothing came up, i searched m4, and m4 burst... nothing. i probably searched the wrong key word i guess
:/

M4A1 is full auto. This is the M4 used by special forces, thus ArmA 2 and CoD4 having fully automatic capability. Grunt infantry only have single shot and 3 round burst available to them. The only kit that ever had a full auto M4 in PR was the Spec Ops kit, which was removed.
All of this information is easily found if you use the Search Function in the upper right.

Re: .8 to .85(m4)
The M4 has safe, single, and three round burst.
The M4A1 has safe, single, and automatic fire.
The M4 is standard issue to the US Army. The M4A1 is only issued to Special Forces units. In .809, I recall we still had the Special Forces class, that was issued the M4A1 which you remember. That kit has been eliminated, and thus the M4A1 has been removed completely from the game, not to be seen again for the foreseeable future.
Edit: Damn, ninja'd twice. More in my post, though.

Re: .8 to .85(m4)
whats funny is that Americas army 3 has the M4A1 for the grunts.......
not sure why thought does 3 shot and auto really make a differentce in making someone wanna join the army? because AA3 is just a recuting thing

AFAIK the M4A1 is used only in the Special Forces missions in AA. The basic marksmanship training is performed with a M16A4 in AA3.

I believe in general the M4 is standard issue in the Army, but M4A1s are also in use by SLs, NCOs, tank crewmen, those kinds of people. The only thing that bugs me is that the M4 ACOG reticle is done wrong and wrong. It looks like a TA33 reticle, but worse.

I don't have any sources for who is issued the M4A1, but I am 100% sure that it is issued only to Special Operations. PM one of PR's military advisors, they know better than anybody here what they are talking about.Hunt3r wrote:I believe in general the M4 is standard issue in the Army, but M4A1s are also in use by SLs, NCOs, tank crewmen, those kinds of people.

And by the way, the ACOG reticle looks exactly like the TA31 sight reticle that is issued to the Army and Marines.
Trijicon ACOG TA31F Riflescope
All of the TA33s are 3x magnification, so I don't think any of them are issued in either the Army or Marines.
Besides, if kits like crewmen were issued M4A1s, people would drop their regular kit and always use crewmen, not the direction that PR wants to go.

You may be right about the M4A1, but you are COMPLETELY wrong about the ACOG.waldo_ii wrote:I don't have any sources for who is issued the M4A1, but I am 100% sure that it is issued only to Special Operations. First of all, the ACOG the marines use for the M16A4 and M4 are the TA31RCO-A4CP and TA31RCO-M4CP. They have the stadia marks, along with a 4 and 6 marking the BDC. The reticle is also much smaller, and after searching ARFCOM (Biggest gun forum on the internet I'd guess.) I have the perfect example of what the reticle should look like:

M4A1s=Full auto.myles wrote:BTW in 0.8 the M4A1 did not fire automaiclly it was 3 burst as it is now.
M4=Burst.
There is a mod you can do to the M4 using some good nylon string to make the M4 go about 1k RPM full auto.
