and then there are the ones who go "WTF THIS MOD SUX. STUPID WARM UP TIME", and then come to these forums to complain about it and try to make us change it to their liking.Anhkhoa wrote:The influx of Nilla noobs is good for us even if we lost a couple good games.
Those who don't like the game, "WTF THIS MOD SUX. STUPID WARM UP TIME", head back to vBF2.
Those like Rhino said, have no mic, read the manual, and want to learn, pick up the skills that we have now and become a good part of the community.

I too bought (first borrowed) BF2 only for this mod, and I still haven't touched vBF2 at all. I guess there could be a bigger crowd of players like me than most of you might think

=) Untouched by Vanilla.
^_^ Unwavered by stupidity.
=D Only when something hillarious like when you go through an entire game without seeing the enemy once and when you finally do, you find them bunny-hopping around your main, acting drunk on mumble. XD

Re: Vanilla Newbs; Message From EA?
As others have said. I have no problem helping new players who come to genuinely learn, infact I enjoy helping new players to get to grips as I know soon they will be another great community member and this is what we want right?
The ones I have a problem with are the guys who will come in are guys who (forgive me if this is like you and you aren't a noob
) come in with a name like:
[clantag][old clantag but cant get rid of as its part of name]NaziZombieKiller[clantag]20063l1t3[clantag]
and grab a sniper kit then run over to the nearest little bird and tk the pilot. Then complain with something like "WTF!! LB IS BROKEN IT WONT FLY!!! STUPID MOD YOU ALL SUCK!!" then proceed to TK people indiscriminately before getting kicked and then going and doing the same on another server.

Re: Vanilla Newbs; Message From EA?
im pretty sure most vanilla guys are attracted by the big explosions and flashing bullets. It's not really because they want to play as a team they just want to use the different weaponary. Although you say that the PR advertising has increased the player base, i've noticed that games just arent as good since advertising it on the VBF2 screen.

I think this is a perfect example of your average Vanilla player who has found BF2.

Re: Vanilla Newbs; Message From EA?
Hello all, I also bought BF2 entirely for the purpose of playing PR.
I have been putting in a few hours in training and SP in order to get the hang of it but I intend to see you folks in the servers soon.
I play a lot of Insurgency so I feel I can be pretty useful to an infantry squad now, but I'm going to need quite a few more hours in the cockpit before I feel comfortable risking my teams tickets flying anything.
Cheers!

Re: Vanilla Newbs; Message From EA?
You know it's not so much that everyone who plays "vanilla" BF2 is some complete moron; it's more along the lines of Project Reality's restrictions not being apparent or intuitive. If you never read the manual and you jump into the game you're not going to think "Oh, the helicopter won't let you take off for thirty seconds. I can tell because there is absolutely no indicator." or "You have to stop moving for eight seconds to be accurate with the sniper rifle. I can tell because there is no indicator for that either." People aren't going to automatically know everything when they launch the game and as everyone in the business knows, gamers don't read manuals. Then of course people are going to want to check things out. They're going to want to see and use what's not in BF2. That's natural. Then of course people are not going to instinctively know what tactics work and what do not so there will be a lot of people doing stupid things. They're just relying on what they know from "vanilla" BF2.
Really, too many of you are just being butt-holes.

Re: Vanilla Newbs; Message From EA?
How i found about PR was that i was with the Modjive thing created by the sir community, and just looked at the mods with the most people playing.
