List of mistakes I've done despite me spending an entire day training to fly jets and helos:

1. Tried to takeoff a helo during warm up because I thought it was already warmed up. Was kicked for 2 minutes.

2. Drove a supply truck straight over a friendly mine. Had the entire server telling me to uninstall.

3. Drove an APC right into the sights of a Bradley. Was called an idiot.

4. Almost destroyed a ZPU and killed myself when I accidentally shot sandbags from being bored. Was told to stop shooting AA before I was kicked.

5. (Training) Landed right onto a runway perfectly, only to discover the entire runway looked like the moon. Kaboom.

6. (Training) Came in too low on landing, hit a bunch of razor wire and sandbags. Kaboom.

7 (Training) Tried to fly an F16 into the approach pattern on Kashan, dropped into about 650, did a nice dive. Kaboom.

the best thing for training to fly planes is to create your own training server locally, then you can avoid people ruining the runway etc.

but keep on training, you'll make a good soldier after a while

A lot of the infantry training I probably need doesn't exist. Training servers are almost always close to empty. I find the 5 second delay for any real accuracy with weapons irritating. Arbitrary limitation that I think should be toned down. Possibly to about 3-2 seconds.

Trying to down Hueys is also one of those things that I think is equally annoying. Don't ZPUs have sights of some sort?

Hueys have a longer start up time. It's really easy to get confused for a beginner since when you hear that sound, you would usually think it's good to go. At least you're practicing on a training server. Though, sometimes those training servers are filled with idiots that bomb the runways.

1. Count 30 pink elephant before trying to take off. 30 seconds warm up time.

2. When driving check the mini map for mine markers. then if you hit one blame the guy who didnt mark his mine when he layed it. Or cleean your monitor there not hard to miss.

3. Gunners will always blame the driver cos all the gunners want to do is kill kill kill. Treat the gunner as the tank/apc commander dont move unless he ssays so if you pass a corner its up to him to give the final clear/go order good driver gunner comms is the key but do use some common sense. Then if you get blasted you blame the gunner.

5. I carnt fly jets so I dont try plenty of other easier things to master before jets. Get yourself a good name as a regular on a server then when you do get to fly they will go a bit easier on you. Turning up on a server as a newbie and taking a jet will get you a few comments even if you are good. Earn the respect. Alot of server including the one i have gets regulars and as a admin you hope and pray the guy you know who can fly gets the jet.

6. Unlucky I was told the best way is to put a move marker at the end of the runway so you know where it is. fly high and find the jets stall speed. the come into land just above this speed then over the run way shut the throttle and drop the last 10 mtrs. Still trying to master that one gave up for now.

7. Learn the stall speed of each jet.

Always blame some one else but make sure you can back it up. Play on one server alot, one you like and one that gose easy on newbies witch is most. PR players only rip newbies becasue newbies think its BF2 and come in thinking you can do what you want its not. If you was good in BF2 you aint good in PR. Rip up what you though you new and start again.


PR is like real life, kills in the kill colum dont mean squat if you have a 1 in the death column

A noob who calls himself a "noob" isn't a noob but a newbie. This means he's actually willing to learn.

I joined PR some weeks ago. I never drove any tanks/apcs or flew a helicopter in this time and this is what I recommend you. Just get familiar with the game first. You'll notice pro's and con's, tactics etc. of each vehicle just by watching. And when the time has come test them on a training server until you've mastered them. Only now I would take the responsibility on to fly a squad around in a helicopter/apc or drive a tank because those roles are very important for the team.

Sure, sometimes I was being called a noob or whatever but I got through and now I think I'm a pretty decent riflemen/medic. Just don't let those impatient people get you down. (Can't blame them though, noobs are everywhere xD)

Practice makes perfect and we need to keep our skills finely honed because everyone in the server is depending on us for air support, transportation, sometimes reconnaissance, supplies and evacuation.


Just keep training. But remember that even when you feel confident flying and landing a helicopter/jet, doing it in a real server where things don't respawn for 10-20 minutes or at all is a different thing alltogether, make sure you know exactly what you're doing.

The training server helped me to learn the basics but still its a lot harder to fly on a real server. It just came to me one day on the TG server. I can fly pretty well even though i don't fly that much

the 5 second delay for scoped rifles is realistic. have u ever tried to sight in a target 20 meters away with a scoped rifle? it takes time.

rifles with iron sights or red dots take less delay time. trust, its not "arbitrary" its realistic.

I'd imagine people have a habitual cheekweld they use instantly for ACOGs and the like, because otherwise BAC doesn't work at all.

I also tend to listen for sound, if I hear anything revving up I know I can't take off yet.

One thing about the mine marker though guys, it doesnt always work.

You can only mark a limited amount of times, and then it stops marking.... So... if your layign down more than one mine, you might want to shout out the mine location in team chat, although ul still find some moron who will drive over it....

With hueys it's hard to know, even though just having a working torque and RPM gauge would fix every single problem with guessing if the helo is ready for takeoff. Blackhawks are easier, just wait for the "whoppa whoppa whoppa" sound to go faster and then you know you're ready.


Bad complaint, but APCs are terrible against other APCs.

Speaking of flying, I was a god at flying in vBF2, and I always used my trusty logitech joystick.

Unfortunately my joystick stopped working, and now I am without one. In vBF2, I've gotten pretty good at flying the attach chopper with the keyboard, but what about PR. Is it worth trying to fly with a keyboard, or should I wait for my replacement joystick before starting to practice flying on a training server.

People, Anyone got any idea how come i cant open P.R.? i mean like when i try to open it i cant! it opens BF2 instead, so i go to multyplayer and it crashes! I was sure that i had v1.41 too! if anyone has any idea plz tell. btw i got vista.

My advise to you is to never fly when your not confident of yourself to fly safely and effectively. There are many times where I'm just having a bad day and pass on flying an aircraft, letting my squad member fly it so I can co-pilot or spot for them.

Also practice on a fairly full training server. That way you'll have the experience of playing with other players and against some enemy AA.

A good tip on flying in PR, and landing on Kashan (From my experience) Is to let go of the throttle at the corners of the map (On training) and glide, and use throttle when you need.

A good landing speed is around 600-700.
