PR suddenly doesnt start anymore

about an hour ago, i joined a server, but experienced that my mic didnt work. i went to the desktop to fix it, then opened bf2 to get back into the game (didnt exit bf2 while checking the mic)
then, i saw that in the audio settings in pr VOIP was turned off... i dont know why. it still didnt work when i did the voice test in the settings. so i exit pr. i wanted to restart it, the spashscreen appeared, and after it disappeared the screen "blinked" black once and.... nothing followed. it also happens with vbf2.
a few days ago my friend played vbf2 offline, but i dont think that was the problem


what can i do?
i hope you guys can help me :S

Have you tried rebooting your PC, as sometimes with the PR.EXE it can cause the BF2.exe to lag out and not fully close.

still doesnt work. are there any error logs or something like that i could give to you?

what i also experienced, when i reboot and the sidebar tries to load up, it also gives me an error "sidebar.exe does not work anymore" or something like that. when i want to change itunes' window size, it also gives me that error with itunes.exe ....
i dont know how this everything can happen, all i installed today was some firefox plugins..

ok, also try to remember if you ahve had any memory errors or BSODs recently.

And also see as a last resort if you have a recovery position saved.

i had memory errors a long time ago, but that was because i forgot that high graphics dont like vista

ill do a windows defender and antivir complete search now overnight, and if that wont help, ill make a backup and try it with the "repair" function of the winvista cd (read that in the web)

erm, ok, but vista doesnt mind it when you use the patched bf2.exe...

You can try patching your bf2.exe to allow it to use more than 2GB of memory. This is only useful if you indeed do have more than 2GB of memory. Firstly, you want to backup your current bf2.exe in your "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2" (default install location) folder. To do this, simply rename it from bf2.exe to bf2.exe.original. You should back it up incase you have any issues in the future. Now you need to download the patched bf2.exe. This can be found in THIS zip file (THIS one if your using the EA Downloader version) (If you get a virus warning, ignore it, just a false positive). Then simply extract it next to bf2.exe.original, and your good to go.

Try that also, but run a scan as that seems a bit weird that multiple programs are failing. also make sure that you are up to date with your win updates too

f*ck, the scan found a spy program in the temp folder, i selected "repair" (was the only option), but dunno if that helped. over night the screen resolution changed (???), i hope it wasnt the spy prog's fault.. but my internet router doesnt have any ports open, so i dont think so...
windows defender found nothing, lol..

i think the only way now is to backup my important files, and run the repair cd...

ps, those "crashes" now happen with more programs, for example the battlefield heroes updater, ...

hmmmm, sounds like you have fracked your windows install up right up, id say go for that idea, *** it'll probabaly work out better in the long run.

i re-installed vista.. now it works wonderful

arent there any fixes i have to do for 64bit vista to avoid errors and crashes? yesterday i only played half an hour...

Erm, look in the FAQ thread and use the patched bf2.exe if your using more than 2gb of RAM.

That should be it, glad its all fixed though
