A place where Assault rifles need to be more accurate

Post by baptist_christian »

So right now, it seems that no matter which position you shoot an assault rifle from, the gun moves just as violently. I am fairly certain that this isn't supposed to be the case. I say this because when you're crouching, your left arm (which is holding the forward end of the rifle) is resting on your knee, and when you're crouching, your left hand is resting on the ground, or your rifle is resting upon the ground.

So to compensate for this, I think that the accuracy of rifles needs to be slightly improved when you're crouching and greatly improved when in prone position, as opposed to now, where it is universal among the 3 fighting positions. obviously the platforms supporting the weapon in the 3 different positions differ in stability.

I see what you mean as when ever i have fired a firearm from prone i have found little recoil, but also you dont rest your arm on the ground as most magazines will then be forces up into the magwell too much, not sure what it does but in cadets i was always told NEVER to do that. Also in game i dont really have problems with the recoil system.

Accuracy is signifcantly improved as you move closer to the ground. The recoil animation is just that: an animation and is therefore uniform and doesn't reflect accurately the changes.

I tend to find i crouch with my right knee up, meaning that my right arm is resting there.

In PR however, all soldiers may crouch the way you said, so theoretically yes what you're saying makes sense.

After BF2 v1.5 fully comes out then with any luck we will be able to make the min deviation from prone much smaller than it is now as it is at its current level to stop "prone diving" but the bad result from it is that you dont have perfect deviation when prone the entire time.

But in BF2 v1.5 they are added the following feature:
Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation - Fixed (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period the same system BF2142 uses)
ie, as soon as you go prone your deviation will shoot up, much like if you aim then walk to the side a little, as such, we can add that with a really high value and then have a long settle time down to a min deviation of something small to allow players to shoot accurately when prone, but not allow them to have instant accuracy by pressing "z"

what about crouch? i know the 1.5 change only specified for prone. but if that code ability is given for prone, shouldnt it be available for crouch at the same time?
