Weird Headphone Interference

Post by Rambo Hunter »

So I'm using my Lian Li PC-7B case with headphones plugged into the front I/O panel, but I'm getting a weird static-ey interference whenever my BFG-Tech GTX 260 starts a graphics-intensive application, like BF2 or call of duty. The more intensive the application, the worse it sounds. (ie. Call of Duty 1 doesn't have it as bad as ArmA II)

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I haven't tried rewiring anything yet because I'm not sure of exactly what's causing this.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have a similar problem, except mine does it constantly. At first I thought it was a problem with my speakers, but the new headset I got today did not solve the problem. When I plugged the microphone out, the noise stopped for about 10 seconds then came back again. I have tried plugging my headset into another computer, and it works perfectly.

I installed the latest drivers for my soundcard (an onboard RealTek AC97) so that should not be the problem. I will try to put an X-fi card in there, later today hopefully, to see if that fixes it.

I do suspect it is a problem with the 3,5mm ports though, I just do not know what it exactly is. I tried cleaning the inside of my PC from dust, did not have much effect though.

It is really annoying me, so any help will be grealty appreciated! :D

Not trying to steal your thread by the way, Rambo Hunter, I just figured our problem is more or less the same so I did not want to start another thread addressing the same problem as you :p

I have the same problem but only since I have bought my new headset. At first I had a Creative precision gaming headset which I replaced with the Fatality version also from Creative. My soundcard is also a Realtek AC97 onboard thingy.
I have tried several things (real install drivers, update drivers, use the front and the back pannel), but I cant make it stop. Thing that makes it odd is that it only happens when I use my new headset. I did some googling and I found it could me electric interference from another device or even an internal powercable crossing an audio cable inside your computer case. I checked that too and that also wasnt the case, I even tried my headset on a different computer but there is worked perfectly.

Lian li cases do have a tendancy of becoming a static box, so try earthing the case, may help.
