'[R-COM wrote:Robbi187;1079591']Pepsi machine, try reinstalling the creative driver, not sure if I said in this thread, but i'll post up a tutorial about it later.

Make sure its Uninstall | use a driver cleaner [like drivercleaner dot net |
Reinstall, bingo. Make sure you restart in between each process.

Another thing, is the XFi card PCI or PCI express?
X-Fi Titanium, PCI-Express x1

Reinstalled using safe mode, Driver Sweeper, all that good stuff...

Going to try to get PR to BSoD later, I have a feeling the sound card is overloaded when it BSoDs.

Well, this is a really old problem with XFi cards and PCI Express iirc

The reason you are getting a lot more problems in PR than any other games really is the EAX enabled mode...

COD 4 and Crysis etc dont utilise these functions as much as BF2 and especially as much as PR.

So I assume that PR .86 uses more EAX effects than .85?

Have you got VSync enabled in nvidias control panel?

If not, try it on see if it helps, you can just set it to run with bf2.exe so all should be good.

why is that weird? never had any BSOD with 0.85 or older versions so it could be something in the .86 release that doesnt work too well with my current setup. Ive switched vsync to 'force on' for BF2 so I hope that helps.
If it doesnt, I might do a fresh install of BF2 + patches + PR somewhere this weekend, maybe that could help too.

Maybe, it may be a shader problem, but with no real view in my mind of what it looks like then im clutching at straws really.

@ PepsiMachine, not really, just im saying as a new driver version is just recently out, and an OS service pack then their are going to be teething problems, especially with a version of the card which is renowned for being buggy at the best of times.

Hi,

Just reminding that I've only blue screened in game once. The 6 other times were during map loading between rounds.

Thks!

Yes and? :p

Thought you had sorted your problem out as being the sound driver?

Pepsi is having similar iirc and Nikolai is totally different to both of you.

ah, ok - thought they were all the same problem, and when I saw shaders mentioned I thought to reiterate that my bsod occurs with no 3d viewport open. Ignore and continue :p

ok I have a BSOD update

it seems to happen (starts with the screen flickering) when I suffer from the suppression effect. I had a BSOD playing Qwai River tonight and later on Fallujah West the screen went nuts again. I tried to make a screenshot but that didnt work.
Wrote down the following from the BSOD screen:
NV4_disp.dll Address BD0C87C2, base at BD012000, datestamp 4A2FC14B

so it seems my display driver crashes when I get the suppression effect, any idea's on how to deal with this?

yeah, I did that not too long ago. I have just deleted all my drivers and went back to a slightly older driver to see if that makes any difference.

Ok, I blue screened tonight after installing vista sp2. Again, it was while a new map was loading - and because I was paying attention I can verify that the second I pushed my transmit button for ventrillo - I blue screened. I'll check/ reinstall my creative drivers tomorrow - but this is definately behaviour that requires .86 to occur.

hmmm, what is your set up.

Have you got vent running through your XFi too?

Youi could try running Vent through your onboard sound, ie Headphones and mic in onboard and game through XFi?

That's a good idea, I'll try that. I remain very curious about the root cause however.

was doing some helicopter training today and the screen flickering occured again when I tipped a helicopter over and it exploded. Seems like its the suppresion effect that causes the problems.
Im gonna do a fresh install of both BF2 and PR, maybe it helps and if not, I have at least tried it :p
