Laminated Maps
I just read the PR Store Post, and I was wondering where I could get some good photos of the Maps, with or without the grid, and even perhaps zoomed in photographs i.e. the a-d/1-4 section of a map. I would totally print these out and laminate them, or at least find a plastic covering, I could mark and switch out pages.
If anyone can help me out, please PM me and/or post here. Thanks.
Peace

Re: Laminated Maps
Wouldn't mind seeing these offered either, could be an incredibly useful tool for squads or just for the general PR community to have at hand for showing different tactical possibilities.
In all honesty, I'd love to see this done one step further, maybe an interactive map which you can click and be dropped at ground level on the map (without having to do it on the game). Kind of like Google Street view

Re: Laminated Maps
You could get the map file out of the client.zip for each map, Or for even higher quality you could open the map in the editor and regenerate the minimap at high quality.
Then just print them.

not quite, you have to do alot of stuff to get the 'perfect' minimap. You could get the map file out of the client.zip for each map, Or for even higher quality you could open the map in the editor and regenerate the minimap at high quality.

Re: Laminated Maps
Would be useful. I have taken X-Fire screenshots of the in-game maps before and printed them out, never went as far as laminating them though
Ever seen this: Tacticum?
Not all of the the PR maps are entirely current I think, and there' no grid, but still fun to play around with....

All you have to do is turn the view distance on everything up to like 9000, turn off fog, and of course have the editor files.Dr2B Rudd wrote:not quite, you have to do alot of stuff to get the 'perfect' minimap.
Oh you don't have those, do you? lol

The image size of the ones "Ingame" have been shrunk from the size the editor produces i think, so if you regenerate you get a higher resolution one.Dr2B Rudd wrote:not quite, you have to do alot of stuff to get the 'perfect' minimap.

Re: Laminated Maps
You guys won't have any ground texture unless you get the editor files. All you will have is color, which will look awful.
Once you get the detail textures, you would be able to turn up the terrain detail draw distance and with the minculldistance set up you would then have a good minimap. Also have to make sure all your assets are being rendered.
Not jsut anyone can make a minimap, really only the map authors can at this point.

Get the nvidia .dds plugins and go into pr/level/client.zip/hud/minimap and Open in photoshop then Save as JPG or PNG and Print

That won't be a hi-rez version though.FuzzySquirrel wrote:Get the nvidia .dds plugins and go into pr/level/client.zip/hud/minimap and Open in photoshop then Save as JPG or PNG and Print
This is closer to what they would want:

going into the files would give you something like this:

Re: Laminated Maps
Why not just print out the Ingamemap.dds? It's 1024x1024. Located in \client.zip\Hud\Minimap\
Like others have said, you could get better, if you had the editor files. You could try asking the author to produce one for you, but i'm sure they've got projects on the go where their time is better spent. But, 1024x1024 should be good enough to print.

Quite sure you're right, but would be a nice extra if the map authors could include a high-quality image along with the final product...maybe if we all say pretty-pleasebadmojo420 wrote: You could try asking the author to produce one for you, but i'm sure they've got projects on the go where their time is better spent. Re: Laminated Maps
Well, I dont have XP (Dammit!), and to install it would require me to purchase a new hard drive.
Unless there are some among you willing to give me something higher than 1024 resolution, I beleive I will stick to the preset minimaps in the client.zip.
Thank you everyone for helping.
Peace

Isn't it about time the wiki went back up again?
Even if it's half done can't it be temporarily opened and then only closed at set times when it'll be worked on, it really was useful before.

Re: Laminated Maps
I found something, they arent too hi res, but at least it saves you from taking a screen of every minimap.
If you laminate these you can use a whiteboard marker to mark enemy postions and instead of pressing M you got a map right by your side. Its really helpful for Squad leading.

Re: Laminated Maps
As like the others I think the best way to go would just be to extract the client.zip and get it from there....Bigger than the in-game map.

If you have problems opening them, I can save them all as .jpg's or some other image if you want.

Re: Laminated Maps
Well i have extracted all the minimaps from the PR levels folders and converted some to PNG and others to JPG (For use with ATC).
Download PR Tactical Maps, (the download start is down the page, whre it says Save file to you PC click here.)
If i was you i would print them out and make a clear playic overlay so you can put the maps underneath the overlay and draw on the clear plastic with a whiterboard marker. It really helps when squad leading.
