Help! Can't Get PR To Work, Properly!.

Heya guys

I kinda need some help getting my Project Reality to work!, i have the correct version of BF2 Patch installed 1.4, i have PR 0.86 installed, so i think great i can play this awesome mod!, then when i double click it, it just takes me to the normal BF2 login screen like in vanilla BF2!, and also when i go to multiplayer games all the maps and servers are in red!!, do i have the incorrect version or is there another way to fix this problem!?, i really do want to start playing Project reality again, but im having problems....Please Help Me!.

Could you please post a copy of your shortcut please?

You do this by right clicking the PR icon and going to properties, then copying the target

E:\Games\BF2\mods\pr\pr.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

so, to clarify - you installed

BF2
BF2 1.41 patch
PR Core .86
PR Levels .86

in that order?

yes i did...i buggered up BF2 with the 1.51 patch so i reinstalled everything then did exactly what you've just put in that order :3

Did you definately completely remove BF2 1.5?

yes i did!, it says on custom games in vanilla BF2 1.4

Sometimes does not complete, but looks like it does.
To find your version of BF2
run PR in 'windowed' mode
Look at the upper left corner
you should see
v.1.1.2965-797.0

Aarrghh im still getting the same BF2 vanilla menu etc and all the online servers are in red!, i have definately got BF2 1.41 and PR is 0.86!, i dunno whats going on!.

when i double click PR it loads up showing the PR loadup screen then it loads up then comes up showing the BF2 vanilla login screen etc!, would i need to literally reinstall BF2 and pr etc?. or is there another way to fix this problem!?.

dude- reinstall everything. (I know its a pain in the *** but that is just the way it goes.) SAve the PR files so it won't take you forever next time.

Its worth it. Hell, I spent 2 weeks trying to get it to work with my new PC- and it was a hell of a time. Now just today, I load up and my monitor says "UAV signal lost" and my PC just goes dead. I cant stand how the fucking game works great for 4 days in a row and then WHAM! another problem again......you got to love it.

It shows how good the mod is that everyone puts up with this shit.

Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your new PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
