Mic Has Reverb

Post by iAstralProject »

So here's the deal.

I have a Logitech headset, I dont use the headphones because I have a 5.1 speaker system, I just use the mic.

I also have a Creative Extreme Gamer soundcard.

Nothing has changed as far as my setting go.
But for some reason I am getting a massive echo/reverb.
While in teamspeak it's all fine, the reverb is not there. Only in BF2/PR.

Ive adjusted the threshold, transmit and receive. But have nothing seems to work.
Ive also made sure that my soundcard settings are all proper. They seem to be as always.

Anyone had this problem? and can ya help me fix it?

In your Creative control panel Image

I take it your running game mode.

Then in mixer it has all your volume settings? Make sure the mic record volume is turned down to 0, that should help you.

Its a little slider just down and to the right of that marked "Mic Environment FX" ... make sure its at 0% if you want no reverb. 100% for life in a large tin can !!

i wish id be able to report that it fixed it but sadly it has not.
Ive got the mic environment down to 0. The Mic Record has to be maxed out as it is my mic input line.. EAX, crysalizer, CMSS, EQ are all off as well. It only happens when I turn my mic boost on. But without the mic boost no one can really hear me well, unless i stick my mic directly to my mouth.
Ive always had my mic boost on for the past few years without an issue. Also my mic boost in game audio menu is off, if I turn it on then it'll just double it up. If I turn my creative mic boost off than friends in TS/VENT will not hear me very well.

Ive even reset all settings to default, both in game and on my card.

Thats interesting ... because when I installed the Creative Console my mic boost disappeared much to my annoyance (and yes I had the same problems with TS, but latest version of software seems to have sorted that). You sure you got the latest version of the software ? There was a release in may I think.

iirc you dont need mic record up at all, try that on 0 with mic boost on. Could you send us a screenshot of the mixer panel of your Creative software please.

well now im finding out that the mic boost indeed is not needed. although yes it is there. I do have the current drivers for the card too. I think this may have actually sorted this out, and caused it. But either way it's all good now.

Hey I want to thank all for your help. Nobody on the net knows shit about this stuff, even in the creative forums.

Seriously though, thanks so much.

I just discovered last night that you do with teamspeak (need mic input volume turned up), but not with mumble or in game VOIP. The weird thing was that none of this was true until I installed the latest drivers. You didn't even have to have the record input activated before. But now you do ...

Creative are one seriously strange company lol.
