Reduce engine noise of crew member/pilot positions

Post by Astromici »

When I'm in a tank or in a heli, it's hard to hear what my squad members are saying through VoIP because of the loud engine noise of the vehicle. My suggestion is to reduce the sound of the engine noise in pilot/crew member positions on the vehicle such as the driver and the gunner. In reality, pilots and crewmen wear noise-cancelling headsets with microphones when operating in these positions to communicate more effectively. Also, this detail is actually illustrated in the game already, because the pilots have a headset on.

Doesn't the game volume automatically reduce when someone comes on VoIP, then it goes back up when they let go of the VoIP key. That's always been enough for me.

in addition, the engine sound IS already heavily reduced..... and I think it would be better if the engine sounds or all other sounds around were much louder because this way you could hear enemies coming to you....
In choppers, the volume is reduced that i can hear my squad mates and thats very good, except in light choppers as the little brid i think.
Reducing the volume again would make the game more unrealistic because its not possible to hear NOTHING when you sit in a choppper or a tank.

well.. to be honest.. when in a heli don't you have those helmets with the radio that block out noise and allow for you to hear?... at least communications?

We need this, alot of players have really low volume on mumble or VOIP and you can't hear them.
Especially since mumble doesn't fall under the same category as ingame VOIP so it doesn't lower the volume.

I think the default sound level effects should be at 50%

would help alot of people.

Bear in mind IRL the sound levels in AFV's and aircraft are significantly higher than in game. A British AFV, for example, has sound levels inside the vehicle of 85dB, and that is with active noise reduction.
