Allright, i know coding is hard, but ive been thinking about this for a while. And here it goes.
So, basically, when your on mumble you need to be in the SL channel, right. This is to give the illusion that you have a SL radion on yourself.
I know you can connect players to mumble via C++ or something. But i was thinking of having something that would be part of the SL kit, a radio.
That you could put on the ground, and pick up, like the "grappling hook"
And that it would be connected to mumble? is this possible?
You should be able to hear it when its in your kit, or on the ground, but you cant reply unless you have it selected, or its on the ground next to you.
And then if it would be possible, it would basically work as a microphone/speaker, That would play off anysounds for players on mumble near that "radio" when it was transmitted by anyone, (Simply by speaking).
So if i want to talk to SL 1, and im SL 2. But he is far away, i would select the radio in my kit and say, Squad 1 to squad 2? I would just use normal push to talk, not force center. And then that radio would transmitt the sounds near me pluss the things im saying to him. And the people next to him.
I understand if its not doable, but it would be nice, cause im thinking if you could implement something like this into PR1, than PR2 perhaps can make use of this?
Mumble is not finished ofc. But this is my stupid hope of something like that to happend.

I've always wanted a physical radio for the SL, seems hard to make though =/

Re: Mumble Question/Suggestion
What about using the Rallypoint? And using it as a rear communication point? Is it possible to attach the "SL channel" or talking wormhole to that object?

Re: Mumble Question/Suggestion
afaik you can get mumble to understand what kit you have, and thats probably as far as it will go.

Re: Mumble Question/Suggestion
no, I just picked up facts when talking to people who do know what they are doing.
afaik Twisted is working with 1 or 2 other coders, he can speak for himself ofc, but I think he needs someone to do python coding for him. I suspect dB or someone is involved on that front.
But remembe Wicca, there are important stages to get through before you start going "this kit has radio" type stuff.
namely
1) Players who are loading need to be muted
2) Players who are dead need to be muted as well really
3) autochannels, like 10th have managed to do
etc etc
so, priority will to get these simple every day things done, then start working on Mumble's PR integration and gameplay additions.

Re: Mumble Question/Suggestion
I understand, im not a very patient person, i just thought since these devs are in my eyes, playing with possiblities, so that they can work on PR 2.
Gaining knowledge and all that would be nice, and i just thought i would put it out there. But yeah, i just want to know what we can do, and cant. And if it would be done, that would be sweeeet

Re: Mumble Question/Suggestion
if i knew more about how the mumble game interface worked, i would probably be willing to help. im studying computer sciences, and consider myself a relativly good coder. unfortunately, i don't know what language is used, or wether it is the mumble bf2 plugin that needs to be coded or the PR code that needs working on.
like i said, if i knew more, i might be willing to help with the PR mumble.
