Player Speed Poll

Post by RikiRude »

As you guys have noticed there is a thread that is getting pretty big involving player speed.

http://realitymod.com/forum/t6476-p-gameplay-speed.html

im curious as to what the ertire community thinks of this, because what i can tell so far its just a small part of the community who wants it pretty much rehauled.

Please vote and if you vote, give a reason, it can be long or just something like "too fast"

Also if you don't like the current speed, propose a solution of some sort.

I like it just the way it is. The only thing I would like to see changed is sprint distance because i feel with the adrealine and what have you pumping they would be able to run further but that's just me.

i voted on "It could be slowed down just a bit"
but ONLY because of the insta-prone fix we hope you guys find out how to do and the changing weapons speed, it's very fast now.. aiming and getting perfect aim is very fast also

the rest is just fine!

I voted slowed down a bit. But, the best case would be a total revamp.

Would it be possible to extend the stamina bar and make the recovery bar very slow to refill (if not stagnant)?

Everything should be thought of in real-time. If you've just marched 10 miles you're not going to recover and be ready to do it again in (1) minute.

But, if that's much too hard to implement then a bit would feel ok even though it's in the realm of fantasy.

I like it the way it is..
And I am a simple gamer.
I just play the games as they are, the PRMM mod is the best so, I don´t care about any small issues like gamespeed or so. :) ;)

Gamespeed is OK for me. It didn't attract attention in a negative manner!

Proning, pulling up weapons sights, changing weapons, and accuratly aiming all happen too fast (proning is far too fast ;) ) Sprinting does not last long enough, though.

I don't think pulling up weapons sights and that stuff could be slowed down, that's just my guess, and the fact that the sights are 2-D I imagine it would look like complete **** if you slowed it down. I think weapon switch time could be slowed down possibly though. And I think they made it so accurate aiming has been slowed down, but people want it slowed down more?

how about how long would you like to see an accurate shot take to set up in

standing
crouched
prone

after sprinting?

I voted "Slow down just a bit", but only because the strafing speed is a little bit to fast. Sprinting is OK for me though.

It should take at least a second or two to line up a decently accurate shot. After sprinting, maybe a second or so longer.

I really think flag placement on some maps is a big culprit of run 'n gun attitude. On a map like Karkand, people just want to take down as many bad guys as they can without going down themselves, because after they spawn, they will have to walk maybe 15m to their nearest enemy. I really like the speed on Kyogan Ni. Players actually value their lives. The current maps w/ some tweaked flag placement, plus slowed proning (and even slowed crouching, to some extent) would be enough to fix the gameplay speed to how it needs to be. I can understand some map remaining fast-paced to appeal to that particular crowd, but I would enjoy it if more of the maps could be slowed down.

The default speed in the standing position should be walking speed (which is not available at the moment, unless you want to count the movement when looking through the ironsights). Perhaps there could be a jog button which would contain infinite stamina, and then a sprint button, which would have extremely limited stamina.
It should take at least a second or two to line up a decently accurate shot.
Agreed. You should not be able to just look through the ironsights and pull off an amazingly accurate shot in less than one second.
After sprinting, maybe a second or so longer.
Indeed.

changing the speed when you are proned should be slower

and changing the speed when you have iron sights up so you go fast but add more sway.....

From the looks of it everyone obviously want prone speed slowed down =) which well is kinda obvious. I don't think you can SHOW sway when bringing weapon up, it is perceived through the crosshairs, which, of course you can't see in the first place =P .

And you guys want more time to line up shots, I think that can be fixed. Keep the posts and suggestions comming and I'll give a general write up to the other Devs, depending on how much work it would take I'd say it MAY be possible to get some implemented in .4 but most likely it would be in the release after that, because something like this i think will take alot of adjusting and play testing. I;ll work on a "proof of concept" say, next weekend or so once ive compiled all the posts in here.

I voted "I like it the way it is." I do, but strafing speed could be lower a little bit.

Since there where no option for "I just want to lower the strafing speed" I had to vote for this options. I'd rather leave it as it is than lowering strafe AND running/sprinting speed too, as running/sprinting are great as they are.

I think the walk would be an excellent idea... If their was toggle between jogging and walking (not having to use the sights) that would be really cool...

not sure if that would be possible to implement it probably wouldnt, i think you just have to live with crouching or having the sights up to get that slow of a movement =/

Yes Riki_Rude agree with you.

Played some month's at America's Army and they run at around same speed but only much longer to run here ( Stamania ) lol . But it's good for me.
