I think the effort would be better spent elsewhere, some community factions dont even have voices...

The original thread could have been moved and the OP notified with a PM. It was quite heavy-handed to lock the original without even merging it.

I completely agree, anyway, except for the part about 'effort being spent elsewhere'. Brits can't do Norwegian voices, for example. The people doing British voice-acting probably won't be doing it for any other faction.

IMO the American voices sound funny ... now if only we could get some Iraq war vets to do some voice acting...couldnt get any more realistic than that

You know what i think it would better be spent on?

Voice acting and changing the UI.

The commo-rose still is BF2-ish. I'd prefer something a little more open like the sandbox mod's commo-rose, or the way they choose weapons.

i thought i would put this in the correct part of the forum it seemed to get a bit of discussion so i thought we could continue it here and would a kind mod be able to merge the two threads together please.

Basically the idea was that we could get some new british voices as they are terribly sterotypical. Maybe get some variation in the where the accents and stuff where from.

since there is usually 6 months between releases...I think prioritising workloads is still important...

as I mentioned in the other thread, PRs sound manager is currently sorting out RL issues afaik, so the effort is in trouble when it comes to voices I guess.

Yeah I will be overseeing the Norwegian voices getting done. Aussie voices are in the process of being done as well I believe. Russian voices were done but there were some problems with the quality, not sure whats happening on that front as Jaymz was dealing with it. He's the aforementioned who is having some IRL issues at the moment that mean he's not really available.

I guess, though, now that i've slept on it, the dev's do have other things to work on... like Rhino finishing Mutrah... ^_^ I'd love to see that actually finished with all the detail... =3 that will be awe-mazing.
