My H5v2 IS with USB, and I just love it :D

I have "creative-fatal1ty" . very loud and you can hear almost everything around + microphone can be pluged in and out of it.

Sennheisser PC161.... 3D positional is excellent, full range of sound and good mic, not had any problems.

Im kind of biased towards Sennheisser though, if I had no issue with $$ I would buy the new really expensive gamer ones.

As long as you won't buy a Zalman, it should be fine. Because these things cover my ears completely, and thus I get a nasty headache after using it for two hours or so.
