Mumble or BF2 VOIP

Post by Silence »

So I'm currently downloading PR.

But I wanted to know, what do most of the players use.

Mumble or In-Game VOIP

Thanks in advance,

Just download mumble... OK?

Most people obviously use Bf2voip. But its very restricted as you cannot directly communicate with people around you, without typing.

With mumble, you can communicte with everyone on the map, aswell as having your own squadleader!

Click my "mumble" use on my sig, to enter the thread where mumble is promoted, and also a download link excist.

Yea you need both. Mumble to talk to people next to you without cluttering (combat)voip, or the blueguys. And VOIP to get to your squad-members. VOIP Is like a radio that all your squad-members carry. Mumble is your own voice.

[only thing i dont' like about mumble is it to soft to hear unless your standing right on top of the person,

And often in a battle it just get drowned out by the fighting,

It's not Mumble or VOIP, it's Mumble and VOIP ;) .

Oh ok.

And I played on a server, joined a squad, said "Hey I'm new!". And the Squad Leader was like: "Oh my god..." and left the squad.

So does anyone know a good server in Europe with good players, that want to help newer players?

Join whatever server Wicca is in, the chances are that server will be newbie friendly.

As people have said, use VOIP & Mumble, it's the only way. ;)

Just had an awesome game.

Was in one squad and I had to drive a logistics truck. And we were driving in a convoy.

I didn't drive that well, but the fellow squadmates didn't freak out.

It was really nice, but then my game crashed :(

Well, I think I'm fallen in love with PR

Mumble is definitely to be viewed as complimentary to BF2 VOIP, and not as a replacement.

We have a guide here, which includes some tips for mumble etiquette.

www.realityteamwork.com/mumble

If you join the *RR*Reality Teamwork Mumble Server you will find that everyone else on the server is using mumble. ( Plus you should get great ping, as its based in Germany )

Also if you tell most people on our server that you are new, they will hopefully show you the ropes ( If they dont, join anther squad )

I actually prefer new players with a good teamworking attitude. All I expect of my squad members is that you stay close, and shoot the enemy ( let your gun settle to do this )

Everyone should get Mumble, just because it's very unique and allows you to chat with the whole team, if they are near.

But I personally don't use it a whole lot unless a server requires it, because then I know people will actually be using it.

If they somehow implemented something so you wouldn't have to minimize every time to load a new server, and some other features i'd leave it running. Otherwise I just use VoIP.

Very cool software. Hopefully game devs will implement this in more FPSs.

At the moment there are only a few players per server. Are there more on peak hours?

Edit: Also, can PRMumble be used with vBF2?

some PR servers have their own mumble server, but most just have a channel on the main PR mumble server (so just join that and move to the relevant server channel)
