i've been experiencing crashes all day, however only when i use mumble. i did a search but didn't find anything that seemed to fit.
basically, when i played with mumble today, bf crashed after a few minutes. overlay is off and all the alerts are off as well. when i dont have mumble on, i can play for hours without a crash.
running xp on a 2x 1.8ghz intel dual core with 3 gigs of ram and a ati 2400 hd 512 megs dedicated memory. all in a neat little package of a laptop.
the crash is your basic ctd, no message no nothing. i used windowed mode, didn't give a message, i checked my windows logs, none of them mentioned anything.

Re: ctd when using mumble
you have used mumble before today correct?
only thing I can think of off the top of my head is maybe try updating PB and rejoin.
Though, looking at it there seems be be very few people on mumble atm, maybe this problem is not unique to you.

Re: ctd when using mumble
yeah, i've used mumble before, reinstalled it a couple of days ago but it was working fine until today.
also, i did a test, this happens with both pr mumble and normal mumble (newest release i think)
did an update of pb, gonna see if this changes anything. seems weird that it would need that though, since without mumble it worked fine.
thats weird, updating pb seems to have fixed it, thanks for the tip
nevermind, still happens, just takes longer

Re: ctd when using mumble
well, i tried everything short of a windows reinstall. I reinstalled the game, punkbuster, graphics drivers, freed up space on the disk and a whole lot of other shit. but this game just keeps CTD without a single message of anysort, be it with or without mumble, in windowed mode or whatever.
the crashes seem to happen at random ( i have yet to play a full round)
if i don't play for a long time, then the crash happens later, this led me to belief it was a heat problem. unfortunately, i can't get a temperature reading on my graphicscard, but my cpus seem to be running at 70 degrees C. this may be a bit high, but not that much considering its a laptop. i tried cleaning it with air spray, but nothing helps.
im gonna open it up tomorrow, but does anyone have any other ideas i could try?

Re: ctd when using mumble
are you using the fixed BF2.exe and how much RAM do you have? maybe that would fix it...

Re: ctd when using mumble
i think i figured it out, i opened a part of the case of my laptop, and it looks like my graphics card ventilator is no longer spinning thus causing the card to overheat.
problem solved as ill try to get this fixed.

Re: ctd when using mumble
well, i officially have no idea.
my ventilator seems to have resumed turning.
still the game crashes a few minutes into the game, but for some reason i can stay a long time on practice server without ctds.
i am using the fixed bf2.exe (well at least, i fixed it myself, used cff explorer to set bf2 to let it handle addresses > 2gb) and i have 3 gigs of ram.
it doesnt seem to be an overheating issue, as i played overlord 2 and prototype and call of duty 4, and they all seem to run fine.

Re: ctd when using mumble
It's highly unlikely that BF2 will use over 2GB with your setup, does it CTD with the
original bf2.exe ?
original bf2.exe ?
