Knife Kills + site info

Post by WesleyS »

Hey guys, first off I want to say I love the MiniMod, I have over 129K points in BF2, but I think I would rather play PRMM.

I knifed someone yesterday(my first day), but it didn't feel right because I don't know who it was. With knifing you don't need to see the message come up that says you killed someone to know they are dead, you are standing right infront of them. I don't think it would give anyone a tactical advantage besides being able to tell his squad he just killed so-and-so. Just makes for a nice screenshot of your buddies dead carcass. Would be nice for the whole server to see you knifed the guy :)
Currently at the gaming site I frequent there are about 900 posts in the "Knifers Wall of Shame". It would be cool to add them from PRMM too.

Also, when I was looking at the mod to see if I should download it or not, I had a hard time finding any information. I was looking for map layouts or a ton of screenshots, and the only thing I found was what was added in 0.3 release. It may be a good idea to add some screenshots and new map layouts to the site somewhere.

You can actually see enemies names when your right next to them.
Just give it a second to show up, think it's the same for when their dead too.

Hehe. It's not exactly realistic, but it would be fun seeing "MMad just scored a knife kill..." pop up in the upper left corner. :P

I guess it'd simulate taking their dog tag to show off to your pals back home. I think they're doing similar in BF2142, if you get close enough to score a knife kill you take their dog tag and it's stored in your BFHQ.

Thats a 10-4 Malik... You keep a list of noobies who you knifed to add to your collection and show your other noob freinds who youve probally knifed 10x if u pub with em. I like the idea of knife kills only being displayed, but its not realistic to really brag about it in the heat of battle, or at all for that matter. So more no then yes to this feature.

you should get a fanfare as well and it should be logged on the server
also it should flash across the screen in big green letters

good fun for knife only maps.

shame we cant do that on bf2.

you could on nam.

My best knife spree was three snipers in a row on the hotel on Gulf of Oman. I parachuted in from 350ft and landed right on their backs. Took them all out before they could even say "Enemy Infantry Spotted!". It was a fine day for my kniving skills then. :)

Can we get Lightsabers in 0.4?

Wesley, that you from ECGN? I used to play there, but it seems the server quality went way downhill since BF:Vietnam. You should like it here because there mod is really good and have a lot of teamplayers on it now.

I did something similar, but I used a gun. I HALO jumped from a chopper and opened my chute 10 feet from the ground and landed right in front of someone. I scared the sh*t outta him and then finished him.

Yeah, I'm getting really good with HALO jumps. I can pick out my target from the sky and normally land directly on it either from a really good vehicle exit or from some skilful gliding. Most of the time I make my target, but sometimes it's always a pain when you miss the hotel roof, hit the side and your parachute disappears and you fall to your death. Very embarassing...

Yeah its me from ECGN. The pubs should get a makeover here soon. The rented ECGN servers are still top notch though. I have been playing PRMM lately(3 days), and I love it. Has a bit of a learning curve though. It would help if there were more populated US servers.

When i used to play Joint Ops there was this one raining, hilly map where snipers kept coming up and picking the same positions over and over again. you could pick your loadouts and different loadouts meant different weights and therefore running speeds.

My team weren't doing very well as we pulled back base by base and so i picked knife only in my rebel skin with bandana tied round head and went up on the hill, just out of firing sight of our base and everytime i heard the sniper noobs start firing i would run over the hill and run round stabbing them all.

I'd follow this with big taunts at the enemy in text (we didn't have voip in that game) and after i'd killed about 30 targets they started to become really annoyed at me. i was rolling around here so much yet i was totally sober that night!

It's probably because of the patch and all with it screwing everything up. When the hotfix comes out, we should see an increase in people again.
