downloading problem

Post by Flak Jacket »

Hey, I have recently been having problems with pr, first started when i got randomly kicked by punkbuster for a "pr/maps/kozelsk error" and decedided to do something about it, so in uninstalled it. When it came to reinstall it, i couldnt open the webpages of any of the american servers where i downloaded it before. I tried several European servers but the download kept getting corrupted.

Help!

Try downloading with a 'torrent' client.

um.. i have no idea, what dose the page do, dose it like start to load, then just freezes?

can you open anyother games?

can you download anything?(and run it, aka, install it aswell)

if you cant run any download, or play any game.. you have the same problem as me, whitch i was only offred one solution for, and i havent tried it yet (ps, mine i can still browse the web, but i use firefox)

that solution was either a reformat or a i forget what is called right now, where you do a system reboot to a earlier date or w/e..

still havent tryied it.. but i also have an xp and its old... so it may not be the same..=P

also, is it the same kozelsk error, or something diffrent...

make sure it is completly uninstalled (pr) whene you try a new install..
idk, thats all i can think of

If you have your XP disk and it is a full version not a 'upgrade' you can do a 'nondestructive' reinstall. This is used to replace system files that have been damaged from viruses and/or spy ware. It will leave all your settings, documents, users etc alone and take a lot less time than a full clean install.
Just boot from the disk and follow the steps you would to install XP.
Ignore the first 'repair option' or repair console. Go forward with the install
After you select the partition to install to, the installer will/should recognize you have another system installed there already and GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM or
delete the partition and install a new copy of XP.
Choose REPAIR SYSTEM
You may be asked to put in your XP S# at the end so have it ready.
If you don't see the repair option because the installer doesn't recognize the old system chances are you will need to do a clean install.
If you don't want to lose your system there are a few other things you can try to fix it enough for the installer to 'see' it. I just can't remember what they are so Google 'nondestructive' reinstall.
You can also learn how to make a 'slipstream' XP disk. A 'slipstream disk has all the service packs in it(SP3) so your repaired disk is up to date when your done.

Good luck
