Well they arent insurgents, and they are their own army in the game, so i think it should be correct to supply them with their own regional arms...

I'd prefer to see the return of 7.62 rounds standard. An old thread of mines for reference.

I've got a few newb questions if anyone wants to entertain them. What is the projected time period of the mod? What countries have made alliances? What is the MEC made up of in PRMM?

Also,the.ultimate.maverick, what are the sources of your info?
I'm not doubting you personally, but I have a hard time figuring out how it came to that conclusion.
For entertainment purposes I'd be interested in reading some of what you found.

The Uzi is used all over the world... by gangsters. Armies tend not to use it because it's not all that special. Weapons like the HK MP7 and the FN P90 etc are beginning to take over the role of close range, self defense weapons and they're getting more and more powerful. 9mm just isn't cutting it in the self defense market any more, it would seem.

Any DEVs going to respond to my question about using the tier 1 unlocks? There's already a nice PKM and G3 floating around, and they're not exactly expansion pack material.

Some publicly available security audits - just google to find those.

The others were my experience, people I know and files I have. Sorry - you can either take my word for it or not but those weapons are in widescale usage today. :|

A 'flat' supressor like what the M4A1 uses would be better, its somethink about the PBS1 makes it looks 'typical insurgent' style.
Bob_Marley wrote:Also, if the pilot/tank crew class were ever implimented then I would reccomend that the MEC version be armed with the AKS-74U as this weapon was originally desinged to act as a PDW for Tank, Helicopter, etc vehicle crews. Or possibly with either the SR-3 "Vihr" or the 9A-91 9mm compact assault rifles.
More like the Skorpion or rarther 'Skorpion vz 61'. The pilots could use them too.

I think the ideas of new classes should be put on the back burners - DEVs have hit a problem in unlocking unlocks - at least thats what one of the DEVs said in the shoutbox the other day.

Yes, with the unlock system they have but who cares about the unlock system anyway?

They will just remake the class selection screen (Hopefully).

Thor is the something god of Thunder, hence "Thursday". Also, we could add the America's Army US loadout with M4A1 +reflex and AT4 as antitank for US.

Its the Norse god of thunder, and please note, this thead is about MEC weapons, so please dont try to divert it onto US stuff, thats half the reason I created it, every other thread seems to be demanding more stuff for the US forces and completly ignoring the other 3 factions in the mod.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

As well as this, the Dragunov should be replaced with the VSS Vintores or VSK-94 on urban maps, as this would provide the MEC with a rifle with similar stealth capabilites and better performance than the US equivelent (I considered asking for the VSSK, but thought it unreasonable). Then again, if you dont want to give them a suppressed sniper system, I quite understand.

Just some observations and corrections. no offence intended.

Firstly, the AKS-74U-UBN would NOT use a PBS-1 silencer. the PBS-1 silencer/suppressor is for the 7.62mm range of soviet weaponary.

The 5.45 series of AK weaponary, (the AK-74 series mainly) uses a PBS-4, or a PBS-5 suppressor. it's a simple matter of mixed names, but if the devs make a skin of the AKS-74UN with a PBS-1, the hardcore russian realism nuts (i.e. me :D ) would go beserk.

Also, as far as I am aware, the BS-1 never made it into either large scale production or use, so this would be un-wise to add to the AKS-74UN.

On a side note, the AKS-74UN (N denotes a side rail for optic mounting) that is featured in the game SERIOUSLY needs a re-skin.

I can agree on the VSS implementation though, its the perfect equivilant to the SPR thing that the USMC has. If it is implemented, I must insist on keeping its 'real-steel' abilities intact though. this includes the SP-6 AP ammuntition used, (defeats standard body armour at up to 400 meters) and the select-fire capabilities.

A 'flat' suppressor doesnt exist for 5.45 weapons. It's the PBS-5 or nothing (the PBS-4 was a shorter version developed specially for the AKS-74U).
If we're being project reality, then some things will have to look 'insurgent style', becuase thats how they look in real life.

The Vz. 61 is a Czech weapon. In use mainly by Czech forces, and not much else. the rounds used are weak (7.62x17mm, 9x18mm PM, 9x17mm) and it has low accuracy and small mags. it's the equivilant of giving a Blackhawk pilot a blow gun.
