Mumble is definitely superior to Teamspeak and possibly even Ventrillo. Mumble is the 3rd-party VoIP of choice for people serious about PR. Clans and what-not may insist on TS or Vent for their own purposes, but I think there is a bit of a movement in the PR community to get those people still clinging to their old VoIP software to embrace Mumble for the a more enjoyable PR experience for everyone—Mumble would be included in Project Reality if there was a way to do that.

I hope the launch went well. I was busy and unavailable to attend. I look forward to seeing everyone on the =US= server.

Don't get me wrong -- I fully support open-source non-commercial development projects -- but I feel the whole "use Mumble or be kicked" was more of a shallow marketing strategy to force players to use yet another VOIP program (Vent and TS aren't good enough)? I don't like when a server tries to force me to download something just to play on it. After I noticed people getting kicked for not being on Mumble -- including my friend -- I've decided to blacklist RT servers. Not all of us are able to run background programs.

Good luck with Mumble, but IMHO it's fairly poor of you to force people to use it. Also, someone else in our squad last night on your server pointed something out -- Mumble is kind of a poor choice when coming up with a name for a VOIP program. :)
Look when you enter a server your entering private property its like you dont smoke in a non smokers home who dont like it. Those who admins servers can put in what rules they want as long as its not breaking any existing rules about getting a liscens. To set it rigth you buy a house(server), but it is clearly said you cant build on it. None the less you can still fit the house how you like as long as long as you dont build new stuff on it.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

I played one very excellent round, and it was pretty humorous to hear "Damn APC!" from the enemy when we rolled through a couple of times.

I want to say thank you for providing the PR community with another server that prides itself on incorporating mumble into PR. I have had the chance to play on your server a few times and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself every time. I am also looking forward to exclusive mumble only nights, though I will say that this past friday night was awesome, the amount of people in your Mumble channel makes me wish I took a screen shot to post here. I hope that your rules regarding mumble will continue to be strictly enforced and I hope to hop in your server soon!

I'm sorry, but this is rediculous. RT players wish to play in a certain way, its no different to a no-baserape rule or a 'you must use VOIP' Rule that other servers use.

This is not a shallow marketing strategy, as RT are not affiliated with the mumble makers,

There are tens of servers you can play on that do not enforce mumble. Some of those kick in favour of people on their TS.

i.e. this isn't really unprecedented and this does not have to affect you, plenty of servers out there for you. If you do not wish to leave the server due to the high quality of it, and the high quality of teamwork, spend a minute to think why this server enjoys such things?

If you don't want to play the RT way thats fine.

space wrote:hehe - well we had 68 mumblers in the channel last night, so Im thinking of having a couple of passworded nights in the week as well :)

I think that there will always be maybe 3 days a week where the server is public, as its a great way of spreading the word about mumble.
It was awesome, i wish I took a SS, between *RR*, TG, and =US= PR servers incorporating mumble into the gameplay style of PR gives the normal player a chance to really expand their communication and overall gameplay. Friday was awesome, Muttrah was so much fun, and I really enjoyed that everyone was in the same channel, it only added to the realism aspect of PR!

And to follow on from Rudds point - the Reality Teamwork Community is actually about teamwork - not mumble.

Mumble is just a tool we use to increase the teamwork - and it does achieve that!

It is just another facet of implementing teamwork, and it adds to the realism, at first I will say I was a naysayer, but after getting it to work and using it, its awesome, mumble puts into effect what Arma1 set out to do. The =US= do a excellent job also of implementing it into PR.

Best way to make sure your mumble is configured right is to hop on and play a round, you will be able to see how well it works and how convenient it is to use in the right areas. Plus you'll meet some good team players and see how teamwork can be used for everyone.

I fully support the server being mumble only, it gives a whole different experience when playing with random people although I forsee the server makeup being familiar fairly quickly.

The Reality Teamwork Community now has its own server licence, so the server names will be changed slightly. The =US= and *RR* tags will be replaced with RT tags.

The EU server is still kindly donated by Rescue Rangers Clan www.rr-clan.com/

The US server is still kindly donated by Unknown Soldiers Clan www.clanunknownsoldiers.com/

I dont mind either way. If a Mod would prefer to merge the threads then thats fine. Also the thread titles need to be changed.
