how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
just wondering because i see alot of post about making FX better etc being said no to because the devs worry most wont run this 4 5? year old engine with slight gfx updates as PR puts alot of stress on rigs
so just wondering what kind of beaten up old held together with duct tape rigs were all useing and when you last upgraded etc
what settings your running to would be helpfull
my rig is:
cpu: intell quad core Q6600 @2.40ghz
GPU:ati radion HD4870
ram:4gig
O/S vista 32 home edition SP2
recent upgrade: the radion gfx card as my GEforce 9800 thingy over heated.not really an upgrade mind.
settings: all high full everything sept texture is med because of the crash bug thing if its set to high but thats PR not the pc.res:1680x1050
pc was bought 1 year ago but even my s**** pc ran PR with ease

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
My new rig kicks pr's ***. But i agree with the devs about not upping the requirements. I wouldn't have built this machine if my old one was still running. The only game on PC i play is PR.
My old system was...
P4 1.7ghz
1024ram
geforce4 ti4200
I think i ran it in all high except lighting and textures maybe. It ran great. I can't say it looked as good as it does now. But, looks isn't the reason you play PR is it?

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
Hmm, mines about 3-4 years old... Some parts have been replaced. I can just about manage low/mid settings but the gameplay is stuttery and some maps run at 5-20 fps.
p4 3.0ghz
8600gt
3gb (2x1024 and 2x512 sticks)
The memory setup is very weird and I'm kind of suprised that it actually still works. I'm getting a new PC in a couple of days which is a lot more powerful (quad core and gtx 260
).

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
I have a Dell (please don't hate me I tried to persuade Dad to get a custom built one) Inspiron 530 that was bought 1-2 years ago (I forget). Has an Intel Core 2 Duo something-or-other, 3 GB RAM and a Radeon HD2600 XT graphics card.
Can't quite run PR at full settings consistently - looks great when it does, but CTDs after 2 - 3 map loads, or during a round if the map is quite taxing. Turning textures down to medium has solved it though and it runs silky smooth now
.
No upgrades 'cuz it's a Dell!

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
I have a custom built computer, built my me!
Specs are:
Pentium 4 3.2Ghz overclocked @ 4.2Ghz (AIR)
GA-N650SLI-DS4L Motherboard
2x 9600GT's in SLI
2 GB DDR2 800 RAM
But well, I fried my CPU, which I was expecting from the massive overclock, and im getting an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz so yeah. I will be up and running soon! I got the second 9600GT a couple of weeks ago off of a mate of mine.

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
I upgraded some extra RAM a few months ago, but i think my last upgrade was a new motherboard.....3 or 4 years ago....
Operating System
Windows XP
Motherboard
ASRock 939 Dual-SATA
Processor
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Memory:
4x 512DDR - Dual Channel
Video Card
ASUS ATi X850xt
Sound Card
onboard
Hard Drive(s)
80GB & 300GB-SATA
Power Supply
350w
Monitor(s)
SAMSUNG SyncMaster 205BW
A regret i have is that i bought the ATi X850xt. It was the best card when I bought it, but it was the very last AGP card. All the new cards would be the faster/better PCI-E.

You running vista? Sounds like the memory fix might help here.StuTika wrote:

I have a Dell Dimension 8400, 1gb of ram, had it about 4 or 5 years.
On a side note, it died today, so no more PR for me until I can get a new rig.

amdx2 5000+, 8600gt 512mb, 2gb ram, HD Sata samsung, samsung 19'' wide
very simple rig really, and i can play it on high and AA 2x -> neat graphics.
i hope i don't need an upgrade for another 1yr and a half at minimum!

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
3 1/2 year old rig.
Windows xp64
4 gigs RAM
AMD 4400+ x2
nforce4 mobo
GeForce 265GTS <- purchased this spring
I previously had a 7600GT video card I ran med settings on. I upped everything to high +4xAA. Sandbags were all shiny and metallic so I bumped textures back to medium.
If you already have a case and decent power supply a rig can be made to run PR on high settings for about $500 or less. I'd like it if they kept the game optimized but didn't skimp on real improvements just because people have old computers.

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
You can still get hold of AGP crads, ATI continue to make them from time to time such as the 3850 Sapphire Radeon HD3850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI 8xAGP - Retail & Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (AGP) - Retail though they are 40 percent more expensive than the PCIE equivelant so its cheaper no doubt to buy a motherboard and the card.NyteMyre wrote: A regret i have is that i bought the ATi X850xt. Back on Topic, my pc is about 2 1/2 years old:
C2D 6750
500GB HDD
8800 GTS 320
2GB Ram
The last upgrade i made was from a 7800GT to the 8800GTS 320Mb version, which is probably dated now, but still plays all my games very well all on high settings so i am in no rush to replace it soon.

Similar age as Undies, more or less. Graphics card is newer than other parts:
Core 2 Duo E6750
~2TB of hard drive space on four disks; all Samsung.
9800GTX
4Gb DDR2 PC6400
X-Fi ExtremeGamer Fatal1ty (I think, can't remember for sure)
Gigabyte P35-DS3R Mobo.
Works well enough, but wishing I'd saved up a few more pennies for a 260 rather than the 9800.

Almost 2 years old. I bought it on the 2nd of October 2007.
AMD Athlon 6000+ (stock; stock cooler)
nVidia GeForce 7600GS SLI
Team Elite DDR2 800Mhz 2GB.
MSI K9NSLI-2F. (had an M2N mobo before, but I fried it while connecting my CCFL's to it)
Seagate 7200.10, a real noise and vibration maker. It creates an earthquake everytime I boot my pc.

Re: how old is your pc and when was the last upgrade?
My PC is about 6/7 months old, bought for PR, ARMA 2 and Op Flash 2 as my laptop which is about 2 years old could only run PR on low/medium settings.
Basically I got a decent base unit so I could upgrade in the future, current spec is:
Intel Q8400 Quad Core CPU @ 2.66GHz (newly installed, upgraded from a dual core and f*** me has it made a difference)
Abit IP35PRO XE mobo
Nividia 9800gtx+
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB SATA HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
Antec 300 case
Samsung 20" LCD monitor
I run PR all on high except for textures to avoid CTD on map load res 1600x900 and I can run ARMA 2 on high with 25 FPS.
Next upgrade im planning is when Windows 7 comes out im gonna get that and a Solid State hard drive so I can run the OS on the SSD and have my old SATA drive for storage, and also will probably upgrade the gfx card to a 275gtx.

o and every1 with a 9800 watch out as thay tend to overheat and its a known issue because its just a upgraded 8800 with less cooling note its dinky little fan on the back for such a huge card.
