General discussion of the Project Reality: BF2 modification.

So how do you perfer people to use VOIP

Role-play it! If you want realism, go all the way!

Role-playing is a bit too geeky, however I'd like some enthusiasm from my squad.

If it's a well organized game, role play. If not show some enthusiasm because this mod wasn't made for regular vBF2 people who don't communicate whatsoever.

It's fun to get into it sometimes, but I think as long as you communicate you do just fine.

But what really annoys the hell out of me is when people start screaming over VoIP when we engage the enemy. It doesn't help in the least bit, so don't do it. Simply describe the enemy, give a bearing, and wait for SL's commands.

I actually crack jokes in voip and my squad seems to love it when i talk and make jokes instead of yelling WATCH OUT APC. It seems that relaxed voice gives confidence to people to focus better and perform better. We also have a higher awareness.

I'm surprised I'm not mentioned in this thread for blowing peoples ear drums when taking fire.
No it doesn't look wrong because we had a squad of noobs and there were only me and the guy in the corner there who stoped to make a screenshot.
We are clan afiliated and good players :P

I voted for Other, and I'll explain how I feel about it.

I haven't been playing PR for very long, but I have noticed that my favorite squads are where people don't abuse VOIP (IE - No one talks about their dog wanting the bag of cheetos on their desk) however, I think it's really important that people stay calm and communicate things concisely, clearly, and quickly. In real life, that doesn't always happen because bullets are quite literally whizzing by your head - at any moment, one of those bullets might decide to make a home for itself inside your skull.

PR is certainly based on realism, but it is a video game. When we're in a firefight, I hate having to decipher a panicked message, and I certainly hate having someone go Aliens Bill Paxton (GAME OVER, MAN, GAME OVER!) over the top of valuable information.

I don't mind the role-playing. It gets a little over the top at times, but it usually adds to the game in a positive way. I just can't stand dealing with people who can't handle a virtual firefight without panicking and making it more difficult for me - and my squad mates - to survive the encounter.

My two cents.

In VOIP I'm casual and chat about whatever. I've also been known to randomly shout, "BOMB CAR 6 OCLOCK" when I feel the squad may be dozing.

In the text, I roleplay Baghdad Bob whenever I'm on the insurgents :P

I prefer it when people are more casual and don't mind having a laugh over voip, random chatter is good, the game is realistic enough without having to have realistic radio chat as well.

yesterday I was playing on the reality team work EU server, while loading the game I heard some guy REALLY taking it serious. sheesh, then I thought about this thread and how people should take it easier. I'm not talking about Simming it up, or being mature. quite the opposite, Shouting, screaming like you're in battle.
but since it's on mumble, I guess it's acceptable.

I don't mind some casual chat on long travels accros the maps, as long as everyone keeps there eyes and ears open and don't be complete idiots. That being said once the action hits I everyone to be combat mode and do there best to suceed.

VOIP is an important part of the game. I don't mind casual chat unless I'm being attacked or we are in a jungle map.

I'm with all those who like comic relief when waiting, although I'm not even slightly funny... But people who use too much jargon get on my nerve a bit...

Im actually rather quiet since I just started playing again. But I do enjoy when people treat it seriously (but not to the point of getting mad at eachother for the smallest thing and calling names over voip) That'll make me talk more
