HAT kit deployed mode
i was just wondering if it was possible to add a deployed mode to the HAT kits.
i know that for example the Eryx and the MILAN systems are deployable.
basically (if any are available) a new weapons slot.
in this mode, turning the weapon has much less (or none) effect on the deviation and it will go where intended even right after turning, but the player is unable to move and can only be crouched ( dunno if this is hardcoded).
the idea is that like the deployed mode on the lmgs, it makes it a more effective defense tool.
if you are looking in one direction and a tank comes from somewhere on your right, you don't have to wait for ages to get the shot, but you are stuck where you are.
obviously the setting up process should take longer than when you just select the shoulder mounted version, but you do get to shoot quicker once its set up.
just an idea, and i didnt see it in the search I did.

Re: HAT kit deployed mode
the idea is good, but i dont think that i would work for all HAts ingame.
so i would like to see a HAT placement like the AA on FOBs so that you have something against armour, that way you wouldnt have a differnet HAT kit but it would take a simular role, as it would act as defence tool for FOBs, which can be overrun by armour very esay if no HAT or LAT is around.

Tanks can be heard miles away and at the time when they finally arrive at your right, you have had plenty of time to reposition yourself and wait for deviation to settle.

Re: HAT kit deployed mode
then you need to limit arc of fire, because looking at this, it will be hard to turn significantly without unsightingin this mode, turning the weapon has much less (or none) effect on the deviation and it will go where intended

TBH, the HAT has no noticable deviation at the moment if you let it settle. My .02.

well yes, but the hat takes a long time to resettle if you do a 180 or even a 90 degree turn.
and on kashan, the viewing ranges are far longer than the hearing ranges.

Re: HAT kit deployed mode
Well given that the H-AT has virtually zero deviation when allowed to settle I really see no need for a "deployed" mode. If you have a need to turn whilst scoped by more than a few degrees then you are a) doing it wrong and b) probably about to die...
Also as Danke pointed out if we are sticking to reality here it would not be able to turn 180 without re-deploying.

ok, this idea should work, just like the pics DankE_SPB putted. it should take a LONG time to deploy tho (ie. 1:30 mins in place of the 0:30 secs for the undeployed mode...)

What I would like to know is why the HAT "jumps" when you fire. Isn't it supposed to be a recoilless rifle?

Recoilless, theoretically; rifle, not always. Recoilless rifles fire large caliber cartridge-based projectiles from rifled barrels; hence the name. The heavy anti-tank launchers in the game fire fin-stabilized rockets or guided missiles.Expendable Grunt wrote:What I would like to know is why the HAT "jumps" when you fire. Both operate on the countermass or counterblast principle, but you're still going to feel something that pushes you when it fires.

Why not just have a buildable tow missle system.
just like the 50cal dug out really, some thing simple like that,

Didn't mean rifle in the literal sense'[R-DEV wrote:Eddie Baker;1103294']Recoilless, theoretically; rifle, not always. Was tired
But thanks, that does make sense. I wish I could fire a LAT or the like in real life, I've always wanted to know what that's like.
